It's fine since black, and yeah i thought it would be way less myself. I actually wanted to go the Godlike route but man that shit would not fit in this PC with a distroplate.

I keep having soft Kernel-Power and AppModel-Runtime crashes.

Time to replace PSU?
Or could something else be causing this?

Thanks, I thought there was a thread for that, but couldn't find it last night.

Yeah, the CPU, RAM, and Motherboard are all only about a year old. PSU is older, so I was leaning towards that.
Any bullshit that I can't immediately point towards an particular part I test/reseat RAM and then go get a PSU and see if that fixes it.

ok, so i have a nuc attached to the treadmill tv, my wife says asian netflix (viki) lags, so i'm just gonna attach a pc on there. i still have a amd 8350 w/ ram and heatsink still on.

i don't want this pc to take up floor space, so i'm gonna wall mount it.

i'm gonna try this
c184565ff8feef7847dbc905b10ee5ad.png

drill 100x100 vest mount holes and mount it like a monitor on the wall.

i was gonna repurpose my nzxt 710 case and wall hang it with this

I put a LOT of effort into wall mounting my old PCs. I looked at the strap shit like what you found there, and its cheap and jhanky looking (no thanks, wasted my money). I found a place that would machine out and powder coat a bracket to the dimensions of the cases - but then I came to the realization that the PC case is about 10 inches wide and it wont hide behind the TV's I have very well. (Never mind this Lian Li case I have now, thats 14 inches wide). But that'll defeat the purpose of the thin, picture frame - wall TV mounts that I bought that keep the TVs only about an inch and half away from the wall.

My ultimate realization was to just take the PC and hide it away entirely. My last house I had them in the stairwell, sealed from dust, but with exhaust fans coming in at the bottom step and going out at the top of stairs, covered by a white steel mesh to match the paint. There, my problems revolved around all the wireless shit that I had in place. Spent a pretty penny on a 4k Send/Receive system that limited my FPS to at max, 66 FPS. Fine, whatever - I had a 970 GTX at the time and wasnt planning on that breaking any records anytime soon. G/f's 2070 Super wasnt really being taken advantage of, but I wasnt all that concerned regardless since her favorite game at the time.. I think.. was Valheim? Maybe? It was something basic af like that.

This house, however, has the Laundry room in the basement. Have nicer TV's now, that are double mounted 65" one on top of the other, and have all the wiring being directed into the basement. My new computer and her computer are setting on a Overhead Garage Storage mount with High Strength Velcro making sure they wont go anywhere. The HDMI's go right up through the wall and out behind the TV's, so I can fully enjoy the output of my Strix 4090. The Mouse and Keyboard have a 16" foot cable, each, that run to an in-floor, brushed stainless steel grommet. (Its actually for a desk, but I made it work for the floor and it looks clean/fantastic). We have wireless peripherals, but the Bluetooth piece is plugged in right behind where we sit so there is no huge delay. I "thought" that the 16" USB cable would add some noticeable input lag - but honestly, I'm just not seeing it. Maybe if I was ultra-sensitive to it and played something like Valorant - I would be more aware of it? But all the "dont do thatttt" posts about having a USB cable that long didnt come true.

The only "bother" at this point is when the PC's completely turn off. As I have to go down stairs, get on a step ladder and turn the PC on that way. (They usually stay in sleep mode.) Ive found a remote with a motherboard connection on it that will essentially replace the power button on the case - but havent pulled the trigger on that yet. As I dont know how Im going to get any reception up to where I actually "need" that. Welcome to suggestions.

Anyways, thats my evolution Lanx Lanx . The machined mount that is cut out at a local machine shop is way better looking than that strap shit, AND, you can probably find someone to powder coat it somewhere so that it looks even better and matches. As Im sure you're like me, in that you want it to not just serve its purpose, but look good doing it, too.

yup, i just got both in today, like you said, the strap shit is janky, no matter how much i pulled, it felt "weak" (since it's just friction straps and not ratcheting straps)

but the barebones bracket looks very promising, theres a nice spot i can drill 4 holes for the 100x100 vesa mount

as to turning it on, i came across this

just a long ass wire

airgoo Desktop Computer Power Switch with Magnet, Wall PC NAS Arcade Cabinet Power Supply Control Adapter Cable 2M/6.6FT, External PC On Off Power Button, 2.54mm Header GPIO Button for Raspberry Pi
i'm 100% positive i can just strip the powersw off an old pc case i have lying around and splice it w/ speaker wire, but for 7bucks this looks nice enough, even has a power sw bypass and the switch itself has a magnet i can just stick on the side of the treadmill

i actually wasn't planning on hiding the pc behind the tv, the tv isn't that big, just an old 43in sceptre? but since the treadmill is in the corner i plan to put the pc on the otherside of the wall.

it actually doesn't look bad since i have the dark rock pro on there so it's beefy af

my wife doesn't care as long as it's quiet and out of the way, and the bequiet and wall mounting will take care of that.

Re-homing my PC into a new case this weekend.

I am this time putting an emphasis on quiet and heatflow. I've had the same case for 13 years and its just a big green thing. It has served me well but my fans are also ancient. My PSU is 13 years old too. Going with Be-Quiet case, new PSU and fans that are all meant to be quiet(er).

I have a 3080ti and I notice that the heat generation from the PC annoys me after a while under some strain (like playing BG3). So I am looking at the 4080 now just to have a more ideal setup. That is quieter and doesn't generate as much heat. I will be willing to part with my 3080ti at a fair price if I do there so DM me if interested on that (whenever I get around to buying the 4080).

bequiet case would include 2/3 purewings but you need more fans than that

This piece of trash Gamebryo engine is whipping my poor 5 year old computer's ass. I've got an i7-9700K and GTX 1080 Ti and it's just not cutting it. Looking to spend ~1500. Not sure if I want to build a totally new one or just replace parts.

I've put together about 10ish computers over the years, is that still the right way to go about it? Is it a good idea to buy used parts on ebay? My GTX 1080 Ti was used from Ebay and has been fine.

MSI Z790 MAX Motherboard Prices Leaked: MEG GODLIKE MAX Costs More Than RTX 4080 & RX 7900 XTX

v.gif

The prices of MSI's upcoming Z790 MAX series motherboards have been revealed and they are well pricey, to say the least.

Last month, we gave you a closeup of MSI's upcoming Z790 MAX motherboards which are designed for Intel's 14th Gen CPUs while also supporting existing 13th and 12th Gen Desktop chips. The new MAX lineup adds improved power delivery, cooling, I/O, and new features such as WiFi 7 support as that's going to be a major marketing feature of the newly refreshed motherboards.

Leaker, chi11eddog, has now leaked out the prices of the MSI Z790 MAX motherboard lineup which is in line with the price hikes from other motherboard manufacturers, especially the Gigabyte Z790 refreshed family which we reported a couple of days ago over here.

Starting with the top of the spectrum, we have the MSI MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX which is set to be the latest flagship and one of the most expensive motherboards around. The price is said to be set at an astonishing $1299 US which is even more expensive than the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 which starts at $1199 US. This is a $100 US price hike over the existing Z790 GODLIKE which costs 1199 US dollars.

Moving on to the next in the stack, we have the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX which costs $699 US and is a $89 US price hike over the current model which retails at $609 US. Next up we have the MSI MPG Z790 Carbon MAX WIFI which should retain for $499 US and that's a slight $20 US premium over its current non-MAX offering. The rest of the lineup includes the MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI for $399, the MAG Z790 Tomahawk MAX WIFI for $329, and the PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI for $279 US. The same motherboards in their Non-MAX iterations cost $379, $289 and $239 US, respectively. Following is the pricing comparison:

Video card is the hardest part for budgets. You can get a 4070 for 650ish and that is like 50% better. 13700F is $360, find a mobo, ddr5, etc.
