Having a hell of a time logging in / staying logged in right now.
PTR stuff looks good but I don't want to spoil it for myself... particularly the new items / bonuses for Barb and Crusader. Looks like Roland's and related items stacks up to stupid damage and new Zodiac ring is nigh invulnerability. If I go and get used to that I'll just be disappointed in whatever nerfed version hits live.

I'm gonna throw myself in the PTR queue tonight sometime while I play other stuff and try and farm up some of the new stuff on a monk. I want to see if a primary build will be competitive at all.

Monk build:

Depth Diggers (100% dmg)
2 Piece Raiment: shoulders and head/gloves (500% dmg)
Focus + Restraint (150% dmg)
Inna's 2 Piece: belt + chest (doubles fire ally passives below)
Crudest Boots + double fire ally (40% dmg)
Primary gem (25%+++ primary dmg)

Currently thinking Ancient Rimehart and Ancient SoH + Freezing Fists of Thunder. I was doing the ranged WoTHF (500% WD) earlier with my furnace and it was hitting for 330m+ on bosses. Seems this build might be the build that allows you to stack defense and just fight shit.

Yea I'm not sure what the deal is, but the game often becomes nearly unplayable in parties of 4. It's the only game I ever have problems with too, so dunno what there is to do about it unfortunately. Just seems ridiculous that a game that looks as mediocre as it does has performance issues at all.

When gearing up I usually always TP out to slow roll. I still find GRifts the most optimal path for gearing up. Almost always 1 Leg will drop and not uncommonly 3.

Also I leveled my Gem of Ease up to 25 last night and holy fuck is that fun to level up
Can you clarify....fun to level up?

With a level 70 leg/ancient weapon + a level 25 gem of ease you one shot things in t6 at level 1 through about 40? Then it starts getting difficult if ranged, melee is more iffy given shit hurts.

L25+ Gizzard solves most of that problem. The regen is basically useless because everything one-shots you, but the shield will keep you alive up to about 60. You'll also still want 2 pieces of Cain's set with a 41% gem in the head socket because the weapon gem isn't enough after a while. Beyond level 60 it's best to just get a PL if you can since it really slows down at that point.

And yeah, new gems will drop once the season ends. 2.2 isn't going to be a new season though, you'll have to wait quite a bit longer than that.

lol 3 hour queue on PTR. I'm pretty sure the game I'm gonna start tonight is shorter than that actually.

Monk bracers that give 30-40% dmg resist while using a spirit generator for 3 seconds...

As mentioned earlier item inflation will break this game, the writing is on the wall and most are completely ignoring this obvious and major issue for the future. Be excited all you want for the next patch but you'll never get the items you want without hundreds of hours of playing, each item that is added to the loot pool without the older shit being taken out the game heads down the road of being a total shit grind. It's a fundamental design flaw of random loot. Should be entertaining watching people post in a few months about how much BS it is that the items they need won't drop. They should stick to redesigning suits that are under used and stop with the new items. Most rares items people want take on average 20,000+ blood shards a piece from Kadala, each new item starts exponentially increasing that number.
In a few months, you mean when they added like 5 more items? That'll make things so much worse? You overestimate the speed at which they add stuff to this game.

Once the pool is getting too large, they could split the gambling categories or soften the restrictions on enchanting to make badly rolled drops more interesting.

I have a biased point of view on this though because they are fucking up the tal rasha 2 bonus that I really liked. Would rather have new sets/items instead of removing working items. They can adress attainability in other ways.

Think I'm done with WD, they just feel awful. Pets are unreliable and shitty DPS, surviveability is almost nil, mana spenders all feel shitty and not worth casting. Probably doesn't help that I've spend literally every blood shards I've gotten in my ~250 paragon on gloves and haven't seen tasker and theo.

Time to climb aboard the monk train I guess?

I think I've hit the wall where the RNG makes me not want to play anymore

P.s. I can do T6 on the Crusader without any issue after the changes suggested in thread. So thanks for that! Too bad it came too late.

I picked up one of those bracers last night and was face-tanking a screen full of mobs in a lvl 33 grift without many problems. Even without the new ring that grants a flat 5 second cooldown reduction or the new sword that reduces all cooldowns every time primary resource is spent, there are builds on live that grant 100% uptime on serenity which means you are effectively immortal.

I tried out a generator focused build last night (after collecting a few 1000 storm pieces that I dusted a long time ago) and it worked pretty well. The 1000 storm 2 piece bonus, depth diggers, Simplicity gem, belt affix all stack additively so all of my spenders were at +600% on my sheet. I didn't mess with it very long but I ended up using an ancient FD and crippling wave seemed to be the most effective since it was aoe and its base effect debuffs mob attack speed. I'll mess with it more tonight.

Yeah, I made a wd this season and I think I'm starting to regret it. Such a boring class to play.

Monk tanks don't need a new survivability item, they are already the best at that and in a group you don't replace Strongarm bracers with anything. They can't replace a WD or Crus because the ability to completely shut down elite/champion packs, shit out a ton of health globes, and bring the best group buffs is far more important to groups pushing high GRs.

Once the pool is getting too large, they could split the gambling categories
It's already too large, and this should have been done from day 1 of RoS.

The thing that gets me is that there's clearly someone utterly retarded working on D3 itemization. "Hey guys, let's put sockets on weapons and make emeralds so powerful that every weapon has to have a socket or it's worthless!" Only takes a couple years for that to be 'fixed' (not really) with an even dumber item to socket a weapon. "Hurr durr, let's make a new rare-as-fuck flag for items that increases weapon power even more than a socket used to!" ETA on Ramaladni's Cockring that adds 'ancient' to an existing weapon? Middle of the next expansion maybe?

Oh and why do witch doctors have to cast their pets every time they enter a game or even just a rift? Especially coming from a dh, who literally never have to cast their pet for any reason other than using the buff, it makes no sense.

WD dogs are actual pets that die frequently and often intentionally. The most overpowered thing about WD tanks is that all the top ones in non-seasonal are abusing legacy items that reduce the cooldown on dogs to nothing and then the Final Gift rune on dogs produces a shitload of health globes for the DHs to pick up.

DH companions and monk allies are basically just passive buffs/DoTs that have a model. Yeah, it's possible for them to die but it rarely happens and they come back almost immediately.
