What kind of shape is this game in currently? Specifically the PS3 version? I tried it at release, it was garbage, I got a refund. Is it better now?

Somebody mentioned earlier that you should be given free roam ability between the acts like you could in D2... I don't understand how this wasn't possible to begin with, being confined to a linear progression is pretty awful for Diablo's system design and i never understood why this wasn't doable to begin with, much like you could in D2 :\

Story is irrelevant, It's the same thing as if you were on azmodan's quest to begin with, well.. everything prior to that is already dead, you should still be able to go to all places in Act 1 and 2, just like you can currently go back to any place prior to where you are in the story in Act 3.

I'm not saying start at the very first quest in A1, then teleport to Diablo, but at least give some free roam to anything before the point in time of the story that you start the game at.

Start at Diablo, all bosses in all 4 acts, except Diablo are dead. It's not like you can teleport to bosses, kill them quickly and get some huge benefit (like Diablo 2). It simply allows you to teleport to all the dense areas in the game, in the same game, without having to remake the game every 20ish minutes.

It also helps kill some of the monotony of being stuck in 1 act for so long.

Maybe it was their way of trying to prevent people from waypoint gifting and rushing new characters? It opened up all sorts of other exploits though, like being able to switch difficulties, pick a quest, then switch back to a difficulty you hadn't gotten to that quest in and being able to jump to it though. Not to mention that you don't need to constantly re-roll because of the way the game is designed so why would they care anyway.

you can already rush as far as i know, once you hit the required level you can just go kill diablo. It was basically the same thing in D2. (get to level 20, kill the ancients, then baal, go to Nightmare)(get to 40, kill ancients, then baal) etc. Now you just need to kill Diablo, get level 25 and you're on NM. then 50(?) for Hell, and 60 for Inferno.

So theres really not much difference, you can still bring a level 1 character into MP10 Act 3 normal keep runs to PL them quickly, make a new game at Diablo, kill Diablo for said person, and move on to NM.

Doing act 1 on the equivalent of MP6 and mob density is so low its kinda boring. Thinking of doing Arreat to Diablo with no MP on instead.

Difficulty settings on console are different, the lowest i can set the MP to and get bonuses is 6.

Edit: apparently act 3 on MP6 is no harder than act 1, so i guess i'll do that instead.

Can someone add me to the OP as Nyrruk - PS3, Farming inferno with MP on?

@MP1 on Inferno all mobiles are the same level regardless of which act they're in. If you're farming you want to be at least on MP1 because that means the best rolls can occur. They changed it so affix/suffix rolls are based upon the monster level that drops the item and not the item level. So a level 61 mace can roll just as well as a level 63 mace.

It's just more bad design decisions by a dumb mother fucker.
It's kind of like what Michael Bay tried to do to Ninja Turtles recently (luckily someone stopped him) but our beloved fuckwit "doubled" the "if I had reimagined this with my BRILLIANT mind" here.

The grouping/grinding is great, just don't be one of the people who gives up after they don't farm a billion gold in a day.

Tuco looks like he was getting some momentum going, tear a page outta his book!

The game should be completely open once you unlock everything. You shouldn't need to pick a chapter or anything, just go in and teleport where you want and kill what you want. The story bullshit is okay ONCE but why the fuck force players to do it every goddamn time.

Just another change that is about the players and not the creator's "vision" for the game. (story? continuity? who gives a fuck?)

So give that and open up modding and watch the player base explode.

I'm having a lot of fun. Part of my problem is finding a playstyle that is both fun and very effective. The tempest rush shit is kind of boring but only works solo. It got a lot better when I swapped in seven sided strike. For an easy-mode button that requires moderate setup it's actually pretty gratifying.

In groups the modus operandi is to bunch up and just run your cycle at whatever you can click on. You can't see shit because everything is exploding. You're don't have to really avoid damage because if you're constantly avoiding damage you're not playing at the most efficient difficulty. As annoying as it is it makes me miss playing inferno a few days post release where you had to bob and weave around stuff and attack when you could, otherwise you'd die. And going back to easier levels wasn't effective because you'd get better gear spending an hour doing a clear than doing 4 clears of easier content in 15 minutes.

You should try bells in group play. People love that shit!
Yeah I tried that out last night for the first time and it was awful. I need to also get rid of my Echoing Fury in groups because of the fear proc.

One thing that would probably help me enjoy the game more is a damage meter that accurately showed the damage done in a group.

Just move the EF to your offhand. You still get the full effect of the APS but severely cuts down on fear proccing.

Not sure how much EF in offhand will help a monk. I know it helps WW barbs because sprint nados are always based on MH damage. But DW monks will alternate swings just like any other DW class. And it makes no difference for sweeping winds because that ability can't proc anything.

I was being sarcastic about bells in group play. Don't do that. The knockback is being removed in the expac, which I have mixed feelings. The knockback is great for survivability but does slow down kill speed.

If you're in a competent group, maybe you can be the aura/guiding light/cyclone strike bitch. Otherwise there's...the build you have now. Which is utterly boring. If you're on a high enough MP, exploding palm/strong spirit is excellent for group play. The "nirvana" build works alright too.

For solo play, bells is my favorite.
