Generally, I agree. But let me hedge that recommendation by saying I'm not sure if some monk abilities always use MH or whatever was swung last(like a barb's WW). HOWEVER, most abilities that you would need to weigh such consideration are probably better off with a 2H weapon anyway.

Also, the proc coefficient for FoT/Thunderclap is 150%(75% for the base, 75% for the small AE rune...yeah yeah, that doesn't mean 150% overall...whatever), so if you land the third hit on a bunch of mobs with your EF swing, regardless of what hand it's in, you're probably going to fear some mobs.

fyi two 75% procs would be 93.75%. The trick is to take the chance that they DON'T happen (as in, pNot = 1 - 0.75) and multiply them together (0.25 * 0.25) then subtract that from 1 (1-0.625 = 0.9375).

Ever since beta I've always wanted to make an explosive palm build work. If this was still FoH you coudl look at the dozens of theorycraft posts (all garbage now) I made about it.

The problem with it is always that it's hard to target a specific low life mob and it's hard to get enemies grouped up enough and survive long enough to really take advantage of it. On the MPs that I should typical farm everything dies so fast except elites/champs that explosive palm doesn't work well on. The other problem is that it doesn't scale with the boost to life from grouping.

I did have some fun with it in groups and using the fire rune with it. But it only shined against mobs that died fast enough to not matter.

Yes, that's what the whatever was. I was calculating chance of flurry while you were still...did you play a warrior in vanilla wow? Anyway, that percentage works for chance of fear since fear is binary, but just about everything else is not. So, life on hit, 150%! That's the reason why monks were able to ride out loh a bit longer than everyone else.


Exploding palm doesn't scale with increased monster hp from grouping? That seems weird that they would scale it with MP but not grouping. And yeah, palm is for really high MPs. I comfortably farm MP6 on my current build/gear. Same gear, exploding palm build, I can do MP8 at the same kill rate. I die more often though because exploding palm builds are more dependent on gear than a typical bell build. There's a time period where you've grouped everything up and they're wailing on you and all you're doing is applying 2-3 palms and living off the life steal from sweeping winds and whatever cyclones you procced(and backlash if you spec it). Not exactly great sustain, especially if a bull cornholes you.

Yeah we're on the same page with EP I think. I'm going to change a few things up and try to make it work more, it's just so much more fun and engaging for me than autoattack with sweeping winds and refreshing conviction.

Nope, nobody is playing anymore. We just sit here in this thread and talk about playing but don't actually ever do it. We're like the Congress of Diablo 3.

Some annoyances with the console version im noticing. Never enough iridescent tears. Got a ton of demonic essences, tomes of secrets and all that shit, but never enough tears to craft gear. Also green items are entirely too rare for a game with no AH.

They toned down the bullshit combos a lot, but due to how scarce good items are, I can't imagine losing HC character in inferno.

And the horror of levelling a new one through 4 difficulties.

I see a lot of people running without LoH or lifeleech, how do they survive?
Yeah I don't know either. I've seen some really funky gear/skill builds that don't include anything but really high damage and then life orbs giving like 40k hp per globe but that doesn't seem like that great of an idea to me. I'll stick to my bell giving me full HP lol.
