WD pets changed A LOT since back in the day, they tank super well and do decent DPS. The passive that summons sycos is very op atm.

Id also rank it Wiz > WD / Monk > DH > Barb

I came back on a new account for 2.0 and leveled every class to 60, tried to get them all to over 200k sheet dps (+ element mods) to get an idea of where the classes sit. Wizard by far blows all the others away. I would say obviously its a lot of gear, Wizards at 210k sheet dps self buff to 400k and I have the 4pc which just shits meteors nonstop (I use Meteor dmg + elemental mods).

With Wiz imo anything works until Torments. People are using Frozen orb because its high damage that explodes, so if you get your spacing right where you cast it you can do double hits for a lot of damage. Meteor, specifically the arcane one hits like a truck if you can regen the AP to use it. Electrocute is enough with the AP rune and its pretty easy to get the arcane dmg boost for the meteor. Once you get the 4pc you want to proc by using all elements, which I found its best to use Frozen Orbs + Armor / Familiar / Teleport to proc the meteors. You can take a look at my build Drae, the teleport w/ calamity is the shit you basically use it nonstop and synergizes with torrent / disruption as well.

That's pretty cool thanks.

Can any WD players talk about how to play once painlessly starting from scratch?

I just did this a few days ago using that Wizen build mentioned earlier in this thread.

With the exp buff, just have to run the game once, then do torment 1 crypt of the ancients till 60.
Should have gear at that point ,and can start farming Paragon points.

I've never played D3, and thought it was quite easy. Maybe 5 hours to 60 if you continually grind?

I just did default, because it was my first time.

Probly can go higher then that tho, because at no point did I find anything difficult. Really doesn't matter tho to be honest. The exp buff is so huge that after you do one playthrough you will be close to 50 then can ramp up to torment 1 for the easty COTA farming,

I guess if you didn't want to play the game you could just got straight to Cota on a decent difficulty since its in act 1, and just continually grind to 60. Seems boring tho.

Get to level 15, get a socketable weapon, drop a high level ruby in said weapon and go on Master mode. Upon getting to level 45 get a level 60 weapon with dmg and -15 level modifier.

if you don't already have a lower level req weapon, you're hooped since the AH is toast now.
Not really viable for new players anymore.

I'll probably do this. You don't need to unlock difficulties on a new character so I have no desire to play through the game yet again.

Yeah its not as simple as just buying any weapon with a socket and a lower level requirement anymore

I don't have gold, so unless someone wants to give me some, this wouldn't work for me.

The recommendation at 45 isn't a hard and fast requirement. You can still get a pretty decent level 45 weapon with damage modifiers and a socket and the Ruby still does a ton of damage. May need to farm to 60 in Act3 and drop the difficulty level down to just plow thru Act4 -- which is much harder than Act3.

I'm sure someone in the guild has some decent rubies laying around you could borrow

It doesn't matter, you will shave like 30-60 minutes off hitting 60 at this point if you spend time twinking. You should be around Expert/Master difficulty easily, and once you hit 60 the first legendary weapon drop you get should let you farm Torment I and that's all you really need. Personally I find farming single areas boring as fuck, so I just run around killing shit or do full playthroughs for the guaranteed legendary from Diablo (You have to start from scratch by "Reset quests")

When you do run throughs, do you just run as fast as possible through the story or do you explore dungeons for chests/events?

Just play Hard for your first playthrough untwinked. It gives the second best XP per mob HP, just behind Normal. In Normal shit dies too fast so you spend a lot of time running around, but Hard is fine. Expert is worthless for XPing, just 14% more XP than Hard but mobs have 60% more HP. Master is good, but probably not viable if you are 100% untwinked (and doesn't even unlock until you've finished Act 4 if it's a new account). At least not on Hardcore.

For fun: Just play through the game, doing dungeons along the way. XP mostly comes from killing shit, so doing dungeons just adds more content at no penalty. You'll finish the game before 60 anyway.

For the quickest XP and fastest route to decent level 60 gear: Play Act 1 up until the quest step "Talk to Alaric" (I think it's on the "The Broken Sword" quest), which is just after you meet the Scoundrel. Go talk to Alaric, then run into the festering woods until you find the Crypt of the Ancients. Clear the crypt, portal out (doesn't matter if you pick up the quest item or not), leave the game, then resume. Take your portal and you'll be back in a fully popped crypt. The crypt has amazing mob density and a guaranteed rare pack. Rinse and repeat until you are level 58 (59 is marginally better, but you risk dinging 60 by accident on the next step).
Once you hit 58/59, ask someone to host a game on Normal and run to the Butcher, then set up a portal for you. Kill the Butcher for a guaranteed level 58 legendary. Do the same for Belial and Azmodan for another legendary off each. Then play though Act 4, dinging 60 in the process, and kill Diablo at level 60 for another guaranteed legendary. This gives you up to 4 decent legendaries right off the bat at 60. Level 58/59 legendary weapons are worthless compared to 60 weapons, but armor pieces are generally better than 60 rares.

Dat 2-hander with 2,651 damage. So even a shitty lvl 70 manticore will be way better than my legacy one.
