On the twinking weapon stuff, while AH is gone you can still craft 20-30weapons and generally roll one with socket+reduced level req(might be like 10-15 instead of 18-23 though). I got a flail like that for my crusader, since you couldn't buy flails on the AH and I wanted the chance to roll wrath per second too(which I only did on one without level req, but I only rolled like 40 of them total).

What is up with that shitty affix anyway? They could add a 0 to it and it still would be nearly meaningless.

Yeah I wish it was a multiplier, something like between 2-6x experience per kill or something. THEN it might be worth it.

Considering that the 35% on Hellfire Ring is practically insignificant now, yeah... for a shitty secondary affix for rares it should at least be 10-15% instead of what is effectively about 0.05% (on T3 trash).

Holy shit I forgot what a cesspool official Blizzard forums are. I tried to search for some blue posts regarding stash space to find their reasoning for limiting it so severely, and ended up finding pages upon pages of people arguing vehemently against an increase in stash space because "you shouldn't need it" and "just make mules". Jesus.

I don't get all these T6 wizard builds with 0 defensive abilities at all. Just beam + everything feeding the beam damage. Do they really do so much damage that nothing ever hits them, even on T6? I mean, I get that compared to a barb, their skills cost less, hit more mobs, stack more damage mods, and that their resource that blizzard says should be super important to manage builds 10 times faster. So overall they probably do at least 20 times more sustainable damage than a barb can. Is that really enough that they never get touched? Christ on my barb I can still get killed faster than I can react by elites on fucking T2, and bosses take goddamn forever. I've been stuck spinning my wheels at the lowest rung of inferno/torment since release.

Leveling my wizard on master, I've had diamond skin slotted for 30 levels and never used it. Even when stuff reaches me I don't seem to take any damage. I'm assuming frost armor freezes mobs before their hit actually lands. My monk exploded to elites on master, and often on expert if I didn't keep a good stun rotation going. Wizard? Not a fuck given. All I'm twinking with is a +25 damage gem. For fuck's sake until I bumped it up from expert I never even used a potion. I thought arcane torrent was godmode until beam unlocked. Now it's just wtflolbeam.

Are they lifesteal builds? Currently don't need to use defensive if you still have a good lifesteal weapon and high damage, but come RoS you'll have to do something.

If it's a straight Archon build and all they are doing is T6 CoTA over and over again, then yeah they don't need defensive abilities because the damage increase from every mob you kill is stupid high.

I've never seen anyone actually play through the game as a wizard on T6 with an Archon build since 2.0.

I have ~370k dps on my wizard and can solo T6 wretched mother runs no problem. Yes, the damage is so obscene that nothing gets anywhere near you. Frozen orb slows everything + stupid damage, electrocute is AE with stun procs to lock stuff down further. I run prismatic armor so I'm at like ~1.4m toughness and can take a couple hits before I explode aside from arcane beams which is pretty nearly instant death.

Archon is the win button for packs and obliterates them before they can make it across the screen. Only time I ever hit problems is a quillboar pack with like mortar/fast on it as I can't really stay far enough away from their damage.

Edit: You'll never complete the game solo as a wizard on t6, mobs in act 2/3 get too out of control and you can't absorb the damage well enough. It MIGHT be possible with the right combo of paralyze/thunderfury/fulminator/that ring that has 15% stun on electric damage, but even then it'd require some good rng to keep things permastunned.

They even have place holders on the UI for 3 more tabs. That would help greatly now that you can't drop by the AH and pick up what you need.

This is one of the reasons I prefer Hardcore. In Softcore it's a viable strategy to just go balls-to-the-wall DPS and ignore almost everything else, which makes the game entirely binary. You need enough DPS to kill shit before it reaches you or your cooldowns are spent, or you need enough life steal to just barely facetank everything without dying. If you don't reach those magical threshholds, you might as well not bother. If you do, it's generally fairly straight forward.

On Hardcore it's a lot more fluid, as you are forced to make tradeoffs between damage and survivability, and you can punch above your weight limit if you're willing to take the risk on your reactions being fast enough and movement being smart enough.

Hardcore was stupid at release by forcing you to farm chests and treasure goblins before you could progress, but that's not an issue with the new systems.

Can you post that build?

Ah true, they probably still have LS on their gear and unlike my 100k dps barb it still heals enough to matter. Those all-in beam builds are probably for trash farming as you said while either avoiding elites or just zerg rushing them. They probably stick to areas that spawn mobs that can be blasted to death without ever reaching them, like much of act1, act 2 sewers, etc.

Anyway, after leveling up the rest of the classes I do enjoy their new emphasis on making resource pool matter for exactly one class.

I still feel like an asshole who sucks at the game when I die in softcore in a group... so there's that...

So what abilities does a wiz run to actually clear high torments - pris armor, bubble, archon, diamond skin/mirror image/teleport? With either frozen orb or pewpewbeam?
