Just don't be deceptive. If you are running and only have 1 or 2 slots say so. I've only had one bad experience. I joined one that was advertised as last in opens and joined a clan group of 3 where they obviously only had one slot. I politely warned them it was against community etiquette and they played dumb before one of them said he used the wrong macro. I still opened and left, only to see them called out in chat for the same thing 15 minutes later.

I do join t3+ that require an open fairly often. I value the blood shards more than the stash of rift fragments I have at this point.

Personally I wouldn't give a shit so long as they are advertising it like that "tx rg, 1 spot, req inv, you open". If it was something like blah, blah, blah, last one in opens and I join and there are 3 people in a clan together then I would be mildly annoyed.
Right, which is why I avoid those that broadcast that way. I only brought it up here because it seems to be catching on.

You know you don't get more blood shards per difficulty?

I'm not sure if everyone is aware you get the same shards at the moment. I saw someone advertising making level 11 T6 games for shards.

Ive ran 3 Runners/Guild group with 1 Joiner. I ALWAY very clearly state "T3 RG Up, 1 Spot, YOU OPEN". If people dont want to join no one is forcing them. As long as there are people who dont mind coughing up shards, I dont seem the problem. Just dont be deceptive. there are plenty of other games with other requirements. If people are upset, then they should run the rift themselves.

Kinda bugs me that more often than not, it's 'lowest paragon' to open as a condition and I am more than likely that one person

When I am the runner, my condition is 'I choose who to open' and I often choose the person with the most retarded name to open next rift
I do lowest paragon, but I like your method better lol =)

Edit: I also clearly advertise, I always follow etiquette as I want to maintain a good rep in community. Pretty much my rep in any game is the most important thing to me.

I alternate between lowest and highest, usually going highest as people of High Paragon are less likely to ditch, ran about 50 rifts solo and had 2 people ditch. Still worth it.

Good way to pick the opener. Going to use that one

I did runner picks a few times but it felt like too easy a way to scam people or at lest be percieved a scammer. What Blizzard needs to do is implement /roll so you can just /roll 3 and whoever's number comes up has to open.

What Blizzard needs to do is fix the fucking game so people don't feel required to abuse the rift and community system just to get a whiff of the items they want. Yes, systems like this will always exist on the fringe, kinda like D2JSP. But it should not be this prevalent.

Its been ok and normal to do this since we started using RIF a while ago. Almost always you'll get spam from 4-10 people and if you dont you are in the overflow channel and can leave and rejoin.

Im low on shards but dont mind grinding rifts, I think its a fair trade.

You have some pretty extreme views bro, I feel you on the game issues, but "abuse the rift and community system"? I think that is one of the few things Diablo 3 gets right is that it is building a social aspect to the game it needs.

If anything these type of systems "RIF", need to be encourage, not discouraged.

Yeah I find RIF no more or less social than anonymous Baal runs. Unless they add real incentives to 4 man party I don't see why the RIF community is anything but a good thing.

You think this was their intention with rifts and communities? That's as far as my usage of 'abuse' goes. I don't think that's extreme at all.

No, but how many game designs spawn unintentional player created content or social interaction? Quite a few. If you think this game will survive on its own by JUST fixing the loot system, you are sorely mistaken. Diablo 3 must have good social interaction to survive, whether that be a good LFG system, communities like RIF, introducing trading back into D3, or whatever. Being just a "great" single player game will not give this game the legs it needs.

I love the RIF system. I've never been a huge soloer but for times when I want to clear at my own speed and watch tv/do w/e else, it's perfect. Free rifts all day, had 1 guy bail on me and another member opened out of courtesy. Had a few guys open out of turn because they got a nice drop from RG and were happy

Nowhere did I say want RIF removed. I think it's a great system, creatively designed by the players. That the players felt compelled, en masse, to play the game this way is what needs to be fixed.

How is the RIF system even remotely approaching abuse?
Misuse of a system is the exact definition of abuse. Or, did you think they intended for someone to join a game, kill just the rift guardian, open a new rift, and then leave?

Considering the game allows for exactly that to happen, and considering the cost/reward structure for doing so isn't very far out of line, no that doesn't qualify as abuse at all.

Who the fuck cares what they intended? Did they intend fast baal runs? Pindle runs? Meph runs? Split bounties? Farming chests? Farming the same named over and over and over and over? In this BoA system bullshit you can't afford not to be efficient with your playtime. It's not like you're exploiting a bug like that dumb act V farming that was up a few days ago.
