You're assuming i'd go to D2JSP. I don't. Never did never will. I'd trade in clan or in game, like i did in D2 before. Never used the RMAH. So i'd have to FIND something of value to trade for something of value to me (my current EQ set being the example, i'd have to FIND something of value to trade for it). I have zero problem with this system, and i personally don't care if someone decides to go to D2JSP or any other site to do what i did in less time and get where i am easier. It does not impact my play style one bit.

Duping doesn't exist in D3 more than likely. It wouldn't matter anyway since a company botting could get plenty of items anyway, not to mention people selling their own drops to the site. Again, it's the exact same fucking economy the AH had, it just wouldn't be 'official', it would fully exist. I don't really see any arguments against trading between long-term clanmates and I don't see any way that wouldn't be a million times better than opening up the AH again like people are talking about.

You're assuming they wouldn't rebalance the game around the new economy, which is unlikely, as they've cited item availability as reasons for drop rates repeatedly. There's every reason to believe that they would nerf drop rates if they unlocked trading again.

Of course it would. How many times do people (like Tenks just a few posts ago) have to remind those in favor of bringing back trading that there's no way Blizzard would just put remove BoA and leave everything else the same? No, they would drastically reduce drop rates across the board to account for the fact that the pool of items would have massive growth due to people trading away things that don't need instead of salvaging them instantly.

Hrm, I have 2k of each mat saved up, so I just sell yellows/blues now (and my puzzle ring takes care of whites).

Make items BoE instead of BOA? Items used don't re enter the pool. I know omg WOW etc ...

Make it very attractive to get souls, ie give an incentive by making good tradeskill things to do with soul (soul dumps) so there isn't an overinflation of shitty items. If there is an incentive to use massive amount of souls, people will use their shitty legs for that instead of entering the trading pool. Hell for example, make it possible to re roll all properties on an item (My TF rolled like shit, and it would take more than re reolling the shitty damage to save it, wut do wut do?) and make it cost obscene amounts of souls. Once the item is re rolled it becomes BoA so you don't just try to re roll for perfect items to put in the trading game.

So sure, game would have to adapt if trading is being put into it, but there are many ways they could go instead of a blanket drop rate nerf.

Then why bother with trading at all? Just up the drop rates by 10. Same difference and you get to see laser beams more often and feel more rewarded for your own farming than for trading/buying.

Started RoS at paragon 120, i'm at 535 right now. No SoH, no TF (the +int one i own was handed to me by a friend), pieces of set i found are ok but rolls are kinda shitty etc, 10 times more drop could fix that over the next 500 paragon levels, but may be not. Farming for a SOH or a TF would take a whole new meaning if that godly rolled amulet that i don't need could now be part of a trade. Right now it'll just end up as a soul if no one in my game wants it and it's kind of a waste.

And again, there are ways they can make sharding legendaries appealing even with trading back in the game, ways to make items 'exit' the trading pool without having to drastically reduce the drops.

This is no longer an important topic or main concern to me since i've gotten the set bonus i need and i REALLY do enjoy the game WITH the set bonus behind me, however, my friend list has become a wasteland over the last couple weeks. The DH i started with is waiting for the patch because during his 250 paragon levels in RoS he has found ONE piece of marauder, and he doesn't play alts.
Pretty sure if he patch doesn't alter his chance at set items radically he's gone. He's not the only one feeling this way right now.

Or they could just not do open trading. There's a ton of better ways to change the game. Like, most of those fake patch notes posted a couple days ago. Any 'fix' they have to do to make up for open trading is that much more work that should just go to something else instead of unlocking the clusterfuck in the first place. If you want to play a trading simulator D2 still exists, but otherwise there's just so many better ways to address shit right now.

First off Blizzard didn't drop the AH for any reason beyond the fact that they had to deal with banking regulations and other issues stemming from the AH. They didn't get rid of a free money trade just to make you neckbeards happy. It's also the reason you cannot have more than 3 accounts with a full battle.net balance of $250.00 per their new regulations. I am sure there was a certain level of fraud and money laundering issues they had to address as well. That aside, all the reasons for BOA don't out weight the reasons for Trading.

Just like with the AH people will get some items and gear up and over time more gear will enter the pool this will always be the case, then do the same thing D2 did. Introduce Ladders with a patch/update/new items and builds and a fresh start the treadmill continues anew every few months. Instead we end up with shit like Ao wanting a Tasker and Theo and me having one on my Wizard that might as well be a forgotten soul. That kind of shit will start to wear thin on people and they will fucking quit.

Also the new Loot 2.0 bullshit really fucks anyone who is interested in playing an alt. At least before people could trade their gear and try a new character. Or simply find shit for a different character, I found all sorts of sets and shit in Diablo 2 that made me want to try a different class that added a certain level of longevity to the game. As it stands right now you don't even want to play an alt because if you are hunting for lets say a SoJ or Unity for your Wiz and you decide hey I wanna dick around on my DH for a bit and it drops you are just going to be more frustrated than not seeing it at all.

Loot 2.0 is good in that items tend to roll with mainstats over before where you could get 6 secondary shit stats, but the targeted shit is almost as big a deterrent than the BOA shit is.

loot 2.0 would be better if they got rid of mainstats and went with straight +dmg or something similar. Would remove the "fucks alt" part and allow for better usage of items.

Agreed, if they turned all mainstat into + attack power or some shit that would work way better.

Or at least be able to transfer the main stat to a different main stat prior to re-rolling the item. I agree it makes gearing alts very futile on your main.

Trading would not solve the issue, especially if you don't want to use something like d2jsp. D2 had open trading and in the hundreds/thousand hours I played that game I think I had one successful trade and it was trading 40 perfect skulls for a duped split or skull loom bow, whatever it was called. I never got anything valuable worth trading, that shit was only for the botters and dupers instead I just farmed my ass off for skulls. The majority of the time trading is just people trying to scam you.

I got a ton of stuff trading from friends. It was great, though I'm sure at least a few of them botted.

Fuck, I actually got my weapon from someone in guild because I was in the group when it dropped.

total opposite experience. Did a lot of trading in D2, never had any issues. But this was in Classic Hardcore mostly. community was way different. LoD i didn't trade much, but had no problem reaching 99 /getting gear/ doing ubers without it either. Fast meph and pindle runs for the win, just gotta handle the tedium.
