I've never heard it described this way. Can you post proof?Monk generators divide their coefficients by the number of targets hit. So while WoTHF:FoF is like 150% it gets reduced to two separate 75% chances if you hit two targets, and so on as you hit more. You can't get 20% life per attack hitting 10 things with the gem.
I've done similar for Zuni's and JH WD sets, then since 2.1 dropped I've gotten two slots of Zuni's and one JH (that was an actual upgrade). In ~300 hours played since ros (granted most of that was before the anniversary buff) I haven't gotten a single piece of marauder's. There is one viable end game build for dh and it is marauder's 6 pc, it IS the build. I see the leaderboards are filled with ppl with 6pc marauders already so I say to myself it can't be that difficult and login again only to get multiples of the same pieces I have in the other two sets, or wd gear, or wizard gear. A friend of mine, whom I pled just Sunday night, and has less play time than me already got 3 pc and just as I'm about to log out last night I'm almost finished an a1 cache, on the last bounty and he logs in. He asks whats up and I tell him I'm finishing an a1 cache and going to bed, he can join if he wants the cache. So he joins just as I'm finishing up the last bounty, opens the cache, and what should he get? He gets RoRG, and it rolls pretty decent. Fuck you rng!

Intentionally going up 1 rift level at a time is the easiest and most reliable way to farm legendaries for characters that aren't up near T5/T6 level, as a side note. I do prefer skipping the trials myself even on my highest-end class but even there there's tons of items I still need to try other builds or optimize.I've had more fun starting a grift at rank 1 and working my way up than trying to do as good as I can on my trial and starting higher. If legendary gems are finite, it's quicker to gather all of them this way it seems like.

Every ability in the game that does AoE damage works this way. There is an innate chance that the hit will proc on-hit abilities, and this chance is divided by the number of targets hit. WotHF:FoF is 75% on the first attack in the combo, 18% on the second, and 100% on the third. It doesn't matter how many targets you hit with each attack, those are your chances to proc. (once) However, with FoF rune both the melee hit and the DoT application can each proc on hit effects, so you get two 75, 18, 100% chances to proc on each attack, which is why FoF is so effective at proccing things. You still can't get more than two on-hit procs going off from one attack however, no matter how many targets you hit.
If you're wondering why in the linked post he has WotHF:FoF as 1.5, 1.25, and 1 as chances to proc, it's because he's adding the DoT application chance and melee hit chance together. The first attack and DoT application are 75% each, so that's 1.5. The second attack in the combo is actually seven seperate hits plus the DoT application, so it's 18% per attack for a total of 1.25.
Legendary gems are a separate thing really. Legs aren't guaranteed but after killing dozens of g rift guardians, the drop rate is way way high. like 75%+. And even a character that can just do Torment 2 or so regular rifts, can easily do at least greater rifts 1-10 one at a time in a controlled way to farm.Do all grifts levels have a gaurenteed legendary drop? I've gotten only gems before, but unsure if those count as a legendary. If they do I have some grifts to run, I have 15 trial keys on my seasonal toon.

Bounties.hat's a really time inefficient way to farm though. I mean, if you've got something to do for 5-10 minutes while you let the timer count down, go for it.
The patch changed very little for crusaders. I've never been a fan of the fire rune for blessed hammer, it just exacerbates the windup time already inherent to the skill. I prefer the holy rune. But if you like the play style, yeah, that will work for a while. It won't be an endgame build though, so plan to transition off blessed hammer eventually if you want to do higher level grifts that holy shotgun/prophet can do.Haven't played diablo since release and just returned and rolled a crusader this past Friday. Is this a still decent viable build. I've been running blessed hammer shit so I already have some blessed hammer gear which makes this more appealing than gearing from scratch.
There is no correlation between gems dropping and other legendary items dropping. I have every gem sitting in my stash and I still average 1 leg per g rift guardian (sometimes 0, sometimes 1, sometimes 2)It's been my experience that a legendary item will always drop with a gem. If no gem drops I almost never get anything else, but if I vendor one of the gems I'm not using anyway so it drops from the guardian again, I will get 1-3 other legendary/set items.
The thing is, if I'm averaging a legendary every 12 minutes from a great rift, it's not that inefficient. It just feels like it because you can't speed it up. Using the extra time for bounties or chest runs or push ups or whatever just makes it EXTRA efficient. Maybe my luck will dry up but it is very reliable so farSolo bounties are time inefficient too!
Yeah, as mazim said you can do bounties while you wait, just don't use town portal and use the map to teleport. Bounties themselves may not be as efficient as rifts or greater rifts, but if you still need a cache specific legendary you gotta do them and by doing grifts going up one lvl at a time getting on average 1(or possibly even 1.5-2) legendary every ~12 minutes is efficient.That's a really time inefficient way to farm though. Yeah, legendaries definitely do not correlate with gems, I've gotten just 1 or 2 gems and no legendaries before.
