Honestly didn't know people read those roles. Heroes don't need predefined roles, play them how you see fit. I've won with abaddon mid rushing a vlads into dagon.

Abaddon would be Durable - Support - Lane Support and potentially Carry. He's a terrible initiator, unless you count running into people then looking at them furiously initiation. Frostmourne doesn't really qualify as a disable worth noting when it comes to initiation(it is a great passive, just not for initiation). He could have the carry tag because well he can carry, he does have a decent toolset for it, decent steroid, lots of self survivability and good farming/aoe damage but in general tons of better carries so it's a bit wasted imo. As for why he doesn't have the tags, cause they forgot and they don't fix that shit very quickly anyway. Also he was quite a bit rushed out when he got patched in.
I don't like the star system, because he is a carry, but he's less than a 1-star carry. I mean, QoP is a 1-star carry, which I agree with, and he's less than that, though he CAN do it.
His actual role should be lane support, which he is decent at. Lack of a disable means that to be at all competitive he needs to be in a trilane, at which point he is actually pretty decent, except there are a ton of lane supports that do the job just as well or better.

Meh his strength isn't the laning, it's past that. I would be fairly surprised if Abaddon doesn't see competitive play once he's added. He didn't in dota 1 much however most of the dota1 scene died before he got most of his biggest buffs(and he's been buffed heavily in a lot of the patches since then). The ability to remove a stun from your carry to counter initiate is massive, sure you can disruption with SD, but there's a big difference between "make the carry untargettable but not able to perform anything for the stun duration" and just "remove the stun instantly, give the carry 200health buffer and delayed 200dmg nuke on enemy team". Also there's the 6secs cd vs 16s, pretty big difference there too. I mean SD is still a great hero but Abaddon offers things that no other heroes offers, he lets you get your carry out of most shitty situations unless the enemy team has insanely high burst(but then your carry would die regardless) and he's almost unfocusable himself which is a pretty fucking big deal for a support. We'll see when he's added but he does so much in teamfights that I think any team that wants to 5man in midgame will want an abaddon, he simply heals so much damage over the course of a fight, while still doing reasonable dmg via the shield.

He might see competitive play. In a trilane. He can't really offlane too well, and he certainly shouldn't be mid unless you're happy to give mid up. He's super annoying in a trilane, and putting a vlads and drums on him for your AM, Spectre, or Alchemist Carry makes him such a bitch to deal with. Then roaming around removing stuns and healing and being annoying as a position 4 would be interesting.
I don't know if he'll see comp play. He could, he could not. He does fill a SD-like role and SD is picked quite a bit. I'd like to see him come into the scene.
Not like Troll Warlord, who I think is meta-warping and I'm sad he isn't in CM right now.

It was buggy during the qualifiers iirc, like it'd join a game then join another, but eventually you'd get something. You can't watch more than one game via the ingame client anyway. On the other hand you can watch 4 streams in twitch so that's most likely the way to go for item drops.

This just via having four Twitch tabs open? I was waiting to see who was streaming which game to decide which one to watch, but if I can just have four tabs open and gain the benefits even better.
I love watching nature's prophet lose. I am not a fan of split push strategies at all. Watching AM or PL or NP or tinker or whatever push lanes solo all game and turn a 25 minute game into a 50 minute game is no fun at all. I'm not disputing the effectiveness of the strategy, but it's just not fun to watch or play with/against. It's just a prolonged 4v5 base camp where the 5 man hopes they can overwhelm a rax before the pusher sneaks a rax during a battle. So, this fnatic vs Navi game has me smiling with glee.
