Just report and mute trolls, ask the other team to report them. The system does filter out people who are consistently on tilt and just make shit unpleasant. But it does require people to report them. I always say - hope he isn't randomly on your team next game. Most people feel like the rest of us about shitheads like that. You always remember the game where the dude doesn't follow the rules of the community - i.e. don't be a dick, and defend to the end unless the entire team mutually agrees to sit in the fountain. I had a pugna today who just raged at the whole team all game talked about how he was building a hearthstone deck, in general it was a pretty unenjoyable experience. I'm pretty sure he got 9 reports so at least he's muted and maybe in LPQ. Easily one of the top 10 most annoying shitheads in 3 years.
Ranked is subject to the same randomness that normals are. Really the best way to approach it is that your MMR will go up if you consistently improve your own play. So there isn't really a reason to avoid ranked if you can just disconnect it as an immediate judge of skill into a meter that will reflect your improvement over time. For myself I've gone from 4150->4450 twice, currently at 4219. I had two like 2-11 4-13 style streaks both times. Few of the games were totally my fault, few of the games were just straight up better play from the opposing team, and a few were just garbage stomps that were over in 20 minutes. I expect I'll probably yoyo a few more times at least until I really figure out what I am not doing or just clean up the specifics of my play, but that idea is true for anyone. I like the overtime feedback of my mmr but I think that 200-300 point swings can be relatively common and honestly don't mean a hell of a lot.
You can easily do the same thing in normals - improve that is - but you really have to be committed to the task of self analysis if there isn't a relative benchmark for you to compare your own skill against.
