The Secret vs VG semi was mostly awful games by both teams. It felt like the whole series was like the game in the finals where C9 won because VG was buying random shit. I think my highlight for the event was the VG vs Secret game w/ Loda, Pajkatt, Zai and Pieliedie casting, such a weirdass game.

I really wish we would see C9 play as they do in the group stages of Starladder or the Summit where they seem to have it together and dominate. Why do they leave the group stages and suddenly no one can get anything done?

I don't understand why people keep picking lich, that hero never seems to win. Similarly Phoenix still seems pretty worthless after 25-minutes, might work in a push strat but otherwise....

I feel like C9 truly just crumble under finals pressure. They have the skills to beat any team, but come finals they always play a shell of themselves.

C9 vs VP.Polar right now: C9 took all VPP raxes over an hour ago. VPP has been defending vs mega creeps and is gaining momentum. Game reached a weird stalemate where both teams would fight until buybacks were used, then they would both retreat until buybacks were available again. VPP gradually chipping away at buildings and took a lane and a half of raxes so far, and may actually be favored to win right now. Currently paused due to lag, but worth tuning in to see how it ends!

I actually watched that game when it was on, watching one team push lanes and the other team defend for an hour was some boring shit. I think C9 tried too many cute plays to end the game which let VPP get important items on 2-5 positions when C9 should have boxed VPP in their base and farmed. I think it was 70-80 minutes before Envy had more than bkb, deso, mkb, blink, travels on a lycan.

Valve takes 62.5% of the profit, 25% towards the prize pool, and 12.5% towards the organizer. Valve matches any money put towards the prize pool, so the usual split is 75% towards valve and 25% towards the organizer. 860k in ticket sales is 107k towards the organizers. Pretty good for an online tournament, but not that good when you look at a tournament with a LAN. It's so ridiculous how much money Valve takes from ticket sales.
If that's the split, then the scene is still almost entirely sponsor dependent. BTS might not be left with $50k before taxes, to be split however many ways.

I'm not sure how I feel about the kunkka changes, kunkka support might be real. They establish his X both as a long duration lane hold when cast on enemies (4 seconds is forever to be walked down only to be brought back and walked down more), but it can now be used at level 1 like kunkka's were doing once the X was at 4 (self cast... walk to wave auto attack get recalled home to harass late game) as well as being simply a free trip back to towers early game off a tp home for allies and enemies - a bit like an ember remnant for your teammates as far as the fountain fuctionality. Boat is and always has been a super legit teamfight tool. Both offensive and Defensive. A support build might just forgo the cleave until last. Torrent, Boat, and X are all formidable teamfight skills.

Excited by jugg's base damage increase that's sweet.

Disrupter has a nice early game buff - saving 60 mana per glimpse cast at level 1 and savings at 2 really affects its usability in the first 5 minutes - give you an extra chance without requiring some kind of clarity or trip home.

QOP buffs look pretty good be usable again. 1300 range blink is pretty legit at level 1 huge range. And scream going through BKB brings back some of her burst.

The diffusal blade becoming a non-attack modifier means its a much more situationally buildable item especially for agility carries based on game need. The fact it won't compete with either lifesteal/moljnir is pretty massive, manaburn on hit can be very strong situationally However, it does hit heroes like Omni Knight/Warlock who just get reamed by diffusals in ways we won't know till we see. I expect to see this item built way more often.

Ancient stacks having more total health if the rock golem is there is interesting, but I guess that just means you prioritize killing him first.

Always fun to see dota change a little bit.

The rune change on 00:00 was coming at some point, surprised it took this long(though the fix before the addition of double runes/bounty runes would simply to not spawn at 00:00), certain runes completely break laning which isn't particularily good design. Thing is with the new bounty stuff versus no runes at all, it's still very worth contesting them. 100g this early is a pretty fucking big deal, hell it's almost a sentry or a good bit of your bottle gold if you're rushing one and so on.

Lina changes are a big list of nothing. Saw all the changes was like damn, then read them and was sad. Rubick agh buff is interesting, though not sure it's going to be good unless it's deemed sufficient for a position 2 rubick in mid where you can actually farm the items to use it. 2secs cooldown sounds great until you figure you can't fucking cast that many spells anyway. Sniper change is fucking weird, sounds worse to be honest, not being able to shrapnel towers means it's even less likely you'd take shrapnel just to cover a large area, main issue being his passives being so good. Windrunner buffs are interesting, that powershot range buff is massive. Hope she comes back.

I don't see core Kunkas putting more than 1-2 points in X, 8-seconds is far too long to be recalled automatically if disabled. Some pub players were abusing X pretty hard on allies allowing them to be in dangerous spots with complete impunity (e.g. tinker porting out with X so he's unkillable).

The buff to medallion is pretty big.

He has quite a few valid points, the scene is in a bit of a mess, like, does anyone really believe Chinese teams dropped out of Dreamleague due to visa issues ? He talks about Secret bowing out of some tournaments due to their requirements and there needs to be some discussion about what how many games you need to play to actually get your prize money, because then it doesn't look nowhere near as pretty. Summit 2 was alright due to all the continents having only a single slot, so the games mattered. The event itself was more of a clusterfuck of issues, although nowhere near as bad as Dreamleague. 17 PCs which can't keep stable fps when playing Dota ? What is this, ESL NY ?

Broodwar gave us the best games possible because they gave their star players the best training space and cleared their schedule so that they could focus on the match that mattered and it is still very much alive. Forcing all the players and viewers to slog through hours of games that have close to zero impact is retarded and will kill the interest until TI rolls around, which does exactly what Broodwar did.

Broodwar gave us the best games possible because they gave their star players the best training space and cleared their schedule so that they could focus on the match that mattered and it is still very much alive. Forcing all the players and viewers to slog through hours of games that have close to zero impact is retarded and will kill the interest until TI rolls around, which does exactly what Broodwar did.
Broodwar gave us good games because it was cornered by a monopoly basically. If you didn't comply with said group you were fucked. I see no problem with qualification matches, all it serves is to improve the teams honestly. I would not want the BW system to come to dota2 ever. The only point I really would agree on in the entire post is tournaments attempting to pump out multiple productions in the same year. Starladder should be restricted to 1 per year, DH 1 per year, ESL 1 per year etc. They could easily space their tournaments out over a period of time with a downtime after TI.

That's on Valve to regulate though.
