toby and h4nni had it right though, why didnt they rosh after they had taken down both rax then finished it, i mean they coulda went the lame route and slowly push lanes and have PL buy BoTs and backdoor it, idk what they were thinking but just goes to show you, it aint over till that throne crumbles.

i wish they would use RD instead of CM, its like watching the same game of chess over and over again with a few moves being different here or there for the checkmate, or have a fun twist in CM, idk cant just be me thats tired of seeing the SAME 2-3 heroes picked and being built around.

man navi is playing like dog shit.

Well thats really the top end of the game. The same 10-15 heroes. Just because the game has 80+ heroes doesnt mean they are worth a shit. After some patches the heroes change abit, and some are borderline top tier to begin with, so the right item change or hero line up can make them appear.

yea i understand that, and as time goes by we will hope to see some new interesting lineups, i just wonder how much these teams actually practice as 5 and try new lineups out. i know its a tournament and its for money and we probably wont see odd picks unless the team has had practice with an the hero.

While I do understand the notion that there is a core set of heroes seeming to drive the meta (those 10-15) in the month of February in global pro games put into the dota-academy db, there have been 80 unique hero picks. 16 were picked just once. The variety is available its just not every team has someone who can play more obscure heroes at a high level and not only that some of those picks are pulled out to counter specific comps or drive them, the experimental teams that have reasoning behind their picks drive the meta in new directions, its not always the same few alone, and when its different those games seriously stand out.

The TL v Mouz finish in G3 was amazing.

As 5? Doesnt really matter, everyone knows the main roles of heroes in 5 man dota, but stuff like two heroes that go well together in laning phase doesnt require the whole team to practice. Those discoveries and practice are done by the top tier teams in their own time on smurf accounts. And as you said, money is on the line. Thats their livelyhood, so going with their most practiced heroes and ones that are powerful in team fights, or pushes ,or whatever they are going for is going to happen.

You're not going to see many games with 5 carries picked. Or 5 supports, or some other shit combo. Because why would you want to risk the chance at money/sponsors/rankings.

Because a game is still a game regardless of the competitive level it's taken to. Which is one of two reasons for exactly why I don't watch any of the ladder games.

When I was in CAL with CS my team still dicked around even in matches where we were being scouted for bottom tier promotionals. Did we miss out on quality guys or making money because of this, probably. But dual elites on pistol or "save" rounds or totem poling the plant is why we were cluster favorites at local tournies -- we always competed knowing at the end of the weekend it was still a game.

Kudos to the guys getting paid, but I want to see more teams doing off the wall shit than rehearsed combos. I've watched a lot of the replays linked here, but have yet to see why anyone outside the "scene" would watch it. It's not often there's a "I never would have thought of that" moments.

Various pros tend to play at night. Just go to watch live games, pick one with some pros, and you'll see other picks. You're rarely going to see off the wall shit in tournie games for the same reason you rarely see off the wall shit in the NFL.

This comment makes me all bothered. Cant quite place what it is to be honest.....I mean sure i have tons of shit to say to this. But will it really address this mentality......doubt it. What I am saying is this , there are heroes that some people just cannot play for shit. So to say that what the pros are doing is some sort of regulated standard that all must follow to want to achieve pro status is all kinds of fucking retarded. But thats still not it , like i said hard to fucking address.

About pro players not picking enough interesting heroes... the meta hasn't changed in a while because we haven't seen a competitive Chinese game in over a month. I'd bet once the Chinese leagues start up again we will see meta shifts, they were picking Naix weeks before Europe anyways.

expect a lot more shadowblades and sandkings in the future

the main thing to me is whats really at stake in the NFL and at these bum tournaments, even TI2 wasnt much compared to LoL tournaments, but whatever they earn through sponsorship and money is better than nothing i understand that.

edit ^ yeah isnt there an asian tournament going on somewhere? i thought i saw a stream for it yesterday cant remember.

Thats also kinda what i was getting at, i dont feel like these teams put in the work the chinese do to come up with these innovative strats like shadowblade sandking, in their off-time / practice time. Lets be real we dontexpectthe other teams to put in the time they do at the end of the day.

Just be glad it's not LoL and the hero meta is unchanging for like year(s)? at a time.

LoL was changing it's favored champions every 2 weeks due to frequent patching, don't ever introduce that bullshit here. Riot also designed themselves into a corner with the F2P, they can't ever introduce heroes that counter other heroes because they would be required purchase.
