Dont forget deso works on buildings. IMO the hero that gets the most use from it is NP. It makes your ninja pushing even scarier, you dont really need the modifier for anything else, you can often get away with skipping BKB, you have good range on your attack so you can always debuff the important heroes, and even if you do need a MKB you're fuckin NP, you'll be able to get it before they get the Bfly. This is all assuming you dont need an orchid though.

If you want building reduction get an AC, it's a much better slardar item, attack speed is godlike for bashes, armor is great both to push and teamfight, and it debuffs everyone around even if you're not hitting them and without you having to melee towers. Granted it's also 1k more gold but meh, Deso is really for stomping when you get a super good lane. Otherwise there's a ton better items and nothing worth than a slardar who gets a 30mins deso first item. If you can"t get it under 20mins I wouldn't bother.

I play in a lower tier bracket about 70% of the time because I play with a friend who is just shit (not that I'm much better), and the other day hit a magnus ult on 4x people literally every single ult. Was so lulz.

Oh also in the update 2 of this patch, they added - Enabled Bristleback, Skywrath Mage, and Slark to Captain's Mode (Tournament Version). Might see some quills but most likely we'll see some skywrath.
As I haven't followed WC3 dota since Skywrath was added, where does he fit in? He seems too farm dependent to be a trilane support, too weak to BKB to carry, and too squishy to hard lane.

In pubs I generally see him played as mid, since he has a pretty disgusting mid-game with farm, and his high base damage makes him able to win the lane early. In pro games however, I have a feeling he won't be able to have the same impact as most mid heroes have in the hands of Dendi/Scandal etc. He lacks the stun/movement/scaling of many popular mids.

He was played as a mid in pro games, very situational pick.

Damn, NaVi with a massive turnaround in that game vs EG after losing Rosh.
Yeah, it just seemed to be going more and more downhill for NaVi, but they finally had a successful initiation (maybe their first all game?) and it cost EG greatly.

Also, I have no idea how Demon is still apart of EG. He seems to have a tendency to be a big factor of why they lose games. He didn't save enough for buyback when he got caught and his RP could have turned that around.

Never watched this, or really know anything about DOTA, but had fun watching the EIZO Cup stuff today. Needed background filler while working on stuff around the house and the Kaipi vs. aL and EG vs. NaVi were fun to watch. Wasn't too hard to pick up from a spectator standpoint, maybe a match or so to learn the vocabulary. Some of the acronyms I still have no idea about, BKB for one. Did help that I pretty much saw a regular cast of Heros so quickly became familiar what to see from Weaver, Keeper of Light, Alchemist, Puck, Lina, and some others. Will probably try to keep an eye out when these streams pop up from now on, especially weekends where there's no fighting game tournament going on.

Was having unusually stupid game, had to go mid as Lina vs Pudge, which was, just get wards etc, then we had Furion jungling in the opposite jungle, against their Enigma, solo CK on safe lane and SK + Skywrath... Nobody talks and everyone just runs around killing/dying. Then the spanish started, the pain, the pain ... Furion went Dagon first (well, dying twice before he got it and not even boots/basil). I'm taking russians over these dipshits any day of the week, they at least know they are doing.

BKB is Black King Bar. It's an item that when activated makes your hero immune to most magic effects for a set duration. Using this for the most part ensures your character won't be stunned so it's a pretty common pickup on a carry that is going to deal a lot of damage if he can keep attacking or by supports that have a channeled CC like Enigma and Bane.

BKB is very visible from a spectator point of view too, it makes heroes all gold and glowy. But yeah a lot of the acronyms aren't obvious. Also you listed a lot of heroes that tend to not have abbreviated names(keeper of the light is kotl but I think besides tobi no one really bother saying kotl), however it gets confusing as fuck when it's PA vs SD+CK and shit like that ^^.

I think there's a small wall to appreciate the game fully without playing it, but it's not that big in general and a lot of casters tend to inadvertly explain mechanics and spells, especially during the picking phase. I think it's a fairly watchable e-sport, even though I believe SC2 is a lot more accessible without knowing anything.

BKB stands for Black King Bar. It's an item that gives immunity to magic damage and most magic effects such as disables. It's really useful to not get shut down... especially for carries in team fights.

One of the daily streamers that describes the reasoning behind what he does and teaches people is Merlini, he's an ex-professional dota1 player, can watch him athttp://twitch.tv/merlinidota

Nothing against Merlini, but watching solo player's stream and casted tournament is night and day. It's much harder to appreciate good teamfight, check how well the carry is doing or marvel at some of the teamwork from single person's view. I watch a lot of tournaments, but if I watch player's stream, I might as well play the damn game.
