I think it might be the way the meta is at the moment. Its pretty hard to do anything exciting as a viper, razor, dp. That said, the post-puppey/kuro Na`Vi looks a lot more like a PR / VP type team than a top-tier team.

I think we need a bit more time to see how it develops and a few more LANs, but yeah, the new Navi looks a bit like a one trick pony. On the other hand, they went to China and back and the LAN was plagued with technical problems and I doubt they got much sleep.

Russian Lan Dota just always seems to be really volatile to watch, besides NVMI had both Goblak and DKphobos - people that I know the players on Navi respect/like. Additionally it was a 25k first place lan prize or some such, which in Na'Vis world is not all that much. Let their buddies win for the first time on lan, pocket a few grand a piece ad they had a good time. (I'm not saying it was thrown, just saying the competitive drive to win as a meaningful accomplishment was in NVMI's favor by far.) When the finals was over there was a very friendly time spent between the teams congratulating/talking etc. I really don't think Na'Vi cared as much, plus you can always be Goblak'd in a best of 3 when its all Russian dota. Definitely should wait - besides everything can change when the patch hits. It will shake things up certainly. Strong teams right now will struggle hard with the patch, and other teams will get an early boost. And there is really no way to say who. It will just kind of Happen.
I think supports are at their most impactful as they have every been in Dota. And arguably the most impactful roles in determining the outcome of a game. The only western support duo that I really think of when I think about a teams 4/5 is EG's. That's not to say the rest of the western 4/5's are bad, but I think they are less consistently able to drive the outcome of the game they are in relative to PPD/Zai.

Is there any point to the hero challenge other than the trophy thing? What's the point of the trophy?

I am about 25 heros into the challenge now. I got stuck on Legion Commander for 4 or 5 games, which was incredibly frustrating. That hero snowballs so hard, for good or bad. The more I play, the more I realize to just how much I hate playing heros that are expected to Jungle.

All 3 C9 vs Tinker games from today (2 in Star Ladder and 1 in D2CL) were entertaining matches. As was the SNA vs EG game

There's actually a critical play that happens offscreen near the end - moments before SK finishes channeling epi, Lesh blinks in attacks, and force staffs out causing the SK to whiff it.

Perfectly valid item on Lina lategame with good farm. She can outcarry a lot of heroes just because of her retarded range and attackspeed, and she will 1vs1 almost every other carry in the game with an agh laguna. Only heroes that do well would be like PL(hard to target right one, if he's even there) and Void(chrono), and maybe a couple of others, but she'll destroy the rest. Had a eul and a blink so didn't really need much more, I guess sheepstick instead of deso would have been fine but deso helps pushing and helps your void/razor damage. Considering it was Fear playing her and she had 20denies and 320last hits, I assume she was actually a farming lina of some sort, it makes sense to buy a Deso on her at that point, it's an extremely cost efficient raw damage item and they had 2 other right clickers.
