Yeah that was a major misstep on his part. She was vapid trash. I could understand the novelty of her new-age attitude as a stark contrast to what he had been used to and making the false assumption that she had the good qualities in addition to these new properties ... (heck a younger me did that before) ... but based on the lore built up to that point her blood should have revealed immediately to him what the charlatan she was.
