"There was a better way to handle this"
No, there wasn't.
There's some pie in the sky fantasy world in your head where we all remain on a shitty website owned by a third party that has a fraction of the modern functionality this forum has simply because moving makes you uncomfortable.
Things were never going to play out according to this farcical narrative you have invented in your mind.
And I want to make this clear:
EVERY SINGLE CONCERN YOU RAISED IN YOUR POST, AND RAISED BY OTHERS, HAS BEEN ADDRESSED NOT ONCE NOT TWICE BUT HUNDREDS OF TIMES NOW
So it is a blatant lie to say we aren't addressing the concerns raised.
They were addressed within hours of this starting.
You either missed it because you didn't read back that far, blocked it out because you are willfully ignorant, or you are too stupid to comprehend what you read.
It is that simple.
The list of most complaints are
1. We are afraid the community will split. This has already been refuted outright by the flood of people heading to the new site. The only way this happens even fractionally is because people get all butthurt over not getting the bullshit narrative they've built up in their head exactly the way they wanted it because the world isn't perfect, and therefore stay here. And those people would just be generating a self fulfilling prophecy easily avoided by stopping being obstinate and moving to the new site. Further, taking the chance of waiting was far riskier in terms of community cohesion. Moving as quickly as we did and as enthusiastically for the most part actually mitigates this happening to the absolute greatest extent possible.
2. We are going to lose "history". First of all, they are trying to accomodate this. In fact, now that Draegan is out of the picture, there is a small chance (get this) that we might even get the database from FOH to merge into the new site as well. The absolute worst case scenario is we lose the forum threads here. That would suck, but most people have already let that go anyway. Its actually not that big a deal.
3. Somehow a_skeleton_03 is going to screw the community over. He's worked his ass off for several days doing his best to prove you wrong. Give the guy a chance. It can't be worse than it already is.
Now, you say this
So many morons making claims that have no basis in reality then telling the rest of us WE are delusional is so fucking LOL.
Right after you paint us a pie in the sky naive fantasy about the good will of Craig McGregor's company such that, even if this site, according to your claim based in nothing but your delusional narrative you invented in your head reading his words and taking them at face value, goes down to 20% of its average viewership, the site will just be left alone.
DONT YOU GET THAT THAT IS ACTUALLY THE WORST POSSIBLE CASE SCENARIO?That we end up with a forum that stagnates....forever....with no one giving a shit enough to even give it any attention? Do you think that MMORPG.com is going to jump to assist this site with any problems it has if it brings them no money and is just languishing at fractional user rates?
This is why this argument is so wrong headed and just silly, petty nonsense. "Oh it could have" "Oh it should have"
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a birthday party. Your fantasy of how things could have been isn't reflected by reality. Deal with it and move on.
You have a reality in your head that this doesn't fit with, so you'll reject it completely.
Again. This is pure projection. This is how I perceive you to be. You have this fiction of a "picture perfect transition" which somehow includes us just staying here and trusting a guy none of us know to bequeth upon us near endless generosity for no reason whatsoever based on nothing but a single statement by him that can best be described as PR SPIN.
My point, and others who have agreed with me, is that there was a way to do this that might have kept 100% of the userbase together and all of the history.
No, there is no way in any transfer that you don't lose at least someone. But the way we did this actually did mitigate these issues to the greatest extent possible, and thank you for proving my point: You have a fictional universe in your head where everything can just be made to work 100% perfect in all ways and all cases for everyone and that isn't reality. Its simply not how the real world works, enzie.
Its just not. Yours is the fiction that doesn't match reality.
That's the issue here bub.
