You fuckers are coming close to convincing me to give my money to EA after I swore I would never do so again after the Sim City debacle. Damn DRM not being cracked yet, I might have to buy DAI this weekend...
Dont do it. SO many games out. Why give this one money?

Because its f'n awesome?

That aside im at the 50 hour mark and i JUST got Artificer done and its pretty tits for my Archer, some mobs just fall over from all the mines i can toss out and the Archer specific ability is awesome also.

Ive killed i think 6 of the Dragons so far, 2 of the ones in the Winter Palace area are a bit too high for me at just 19 atm. I think one is 21 and the other 23.

Storm Coast is easily the best looking zone, looks alot like that map in BF4 w/ the rain and wind.

Tons of games are f'n awesome. And if it IS f'n awesome, it will still be 6 months from now, when we have reviews from people that have finished the game, and also are not the kindof people who pre-order games, and/or buy every AAA game put in front of them day 1, without waiting for real reviews.

Listening to a bunch of fanboys sound off on a game they've played 1-30hours in in the first week of release is about the WORST way to choose what game to play. only topped by pre-ordering of course. They've already proven to be not interested in actual critical reviews of the game.

It is a really fun game. When AAA titles get it right, they should be given money. Plus the game takes so long, it is actually worth your $60. This is coming from somebody who very rarely purchases games at release.

It isn't perfect, no games are, but there is a lot to love.

Hmm unless you mean something else, you get a Fire rune "recipe" like a couple of hours into the game in the Hinterlands.
Just north of the town you liberate right away, there's a cave where you escort some elf to do some ritual to get a Fade measuring tool active or whatever the fuck, it's the first time you encounter Veil Fire right, you just shine the veil fire on one of the walls and a rune appear, then you interact and learn the fire rune.

I assume other runes use the same system, though not entirely sure as I haven't progressed very far since I keep rerolling and shit.

Do you have Skyhold yet? (I was 12 right before I did, so it's possible)

If you do, you need to do the "Find the Artisan" or whatever quest on the War Table.

I have the recipe. I don't have blank runes.

So no mods right? I remember now one of the mods I got for DA:O was a cosmetic one that made Leliana and Morrigan look like their concept art.

Some of you take purchasing games far too seriously. This is a $60 game for fuck's sake, not a brand new car.

so I installed the latest Nvidia drivers, that Visual C++ Update and this shit still crashes with a nice error every 30-60 mins or so, is that the drivers fault or the crap engine they are using?

Sounds like a personal problem. I've had 1 CTD (direct to desktop without error) in 30 hours of play. But I'm on a completely fresh install of Windows 8.1.

Sooo. You can cheese the war table on the PC version at least. Start the timer, alt tab to your PC clock settings, set clock ahead the desired amount of time (swapping 1 day counts as 24 hours passed in game) and the quest completes. Don't have to exit to any menu, just have the clock overlay over the war map and change the time as you pick missions, the missions update the second you press OK on changing the internal clock. Can "farm" the gather resources quests this way too.

Still get achievement and such, so no downside to doing this as far as I can tell.

However, if you don't swap dates going forwards, the timer will actually roll backwards. Had a 15 minute quest change to 21 hours. Swapped dates and it completed instantly.

Time and money.
$60 could be playing Warlords of Dreanor with my friends playing that, or the ones playing Final Fantasy 14, or PRX playing Archage etc. Which all may or may not be better or worse..
hell, I have witcher 2 sitting there installed, but not played yet. and, heck, just grabbed Valkria chronicles the other day. Still havn't finished Grimrock2 . wonder if skyrim or Divinity:OS have any new mods...
Terraria has had a new content patch since I last played. and is getting 1.3 before Christmas I hear. Starbound might get a new stable before then too.. Still got to get to south park rpg. oh, actually, its about time to check with Shadows of Mordor. that should have some real reviews now.
I'll even admit, I logged back into Neverwinter after this talk in here, about the multiplayer. Was pleasantly surprised how much new content was there, not locked behind the paywall.

There is something like 600-2000 games released per year. no way any of you played all of them. Its pretty easy to be picky. Buying any game day one, that is not an MMO, is pretty much idiotic. and rewarding game companies for fucking over consumers. I for one, would much rather wait a bit, and pick the ones that have proven to stand up to hype after 3-6months. For every one game you play, you probably missed 20 fantastic ones. You would absolutely be better off going back and checking on the best of the best of the last 2 years.

It was 46 dollars if you preordered via GMG.

It was well worth it.

I still want my 37 dollars back for Civilization: Beyond Boring.

Apparently you've got a shitty amount of time you dedicate to gaming (or let shitty MMO's eat up most of it) - don't lump everyone in with your situation.

There's a world of difference between someone that seems to be a 10-20 hr a week gamer like you appear to be from that pathetic list and those of us that have 40+ because of a spouse and/or career that is gaming compatible.

What you're saying MIGHT be true of a similar shitty playtime gamer like yourself - but this tends to be a hardcore forum, so most of us do have some pretty hefty gaming time.

I'm not sure what's the point of this, game's been out for almost a week, it's not day1 anymore, many people have sinked more than 30-60hours into the game already, there's no "hype" anymore, shit's over, at this point it's either good or bad, in this case it's good. It has flaws, a bunch of them, almost every game does, overall though it's good. It's 40bucks on mexican origin or 45bucks on GMG. It probably won't be cheaper than that for like a year, besides maybe buying a box somewhere. Only point of waiting would be to play the DLCs all at once instead, but anyone can just revisit the game.

If you don't have time to play it now then don't, but telling people they should go and buy older games because this one is "too new" is retarded. I agree with not buying day1 games(though I, and you, still do it for certain games) but that only means you wait a couple of days to check streams and read actual players' feedback, not that you wait until the game is 90% off on steam, unless you're poor but then you don't need a reminder that you can't afford new games in new games threads.

It's especially stupid when you explain why you're not buying it because you've been buying games even though you still had games to play. You're already doing what you're saying people shouldn't be doing. The fact Grimrock and Valkyria weren't full priced doesn't really change the concept.

Regarding the arcanist:

You purchase blank runes in val royeaux from a vendor. You can't make runes until you get Dagna though. I believe she is unlocked from a war table quest.
You only get Dagna if you played Dragon Age Origins, did her side quest in Orzammar, and chose to send her to the Circle. It's little things like this that make playing all the games in the series worth while.

As for cost of the game, I look it this way: If I were to go out and see a movie with the family, it'd probably cost me about $80. For TWO hours of entertainment. I'm only about 45 hours into DA:I, and I just got into act 2. Video games are insanely cheap forms of entertainment. Hell, I'm already thinking about my second play-through. By the time I'm "done" with DA:I, I'll probably have about 150-200 hours played, and that's without even touching the multi-player stuff. For $80 bucks (I got the Digital Deluxe version), that's a big fucking win in my book.
