Since I was never able to get on the SubPress Dresden File train, I decided to jump on board the limited releases at Grim Oak. Was able to find a signed / numbered copy of Storm Front w/ slip case and rights to Fool Moon which should be shipping here in the Fall. Going to be a long road ahead with all the books in the series. They're really nice though and am looking forward to having a matched set.
Unrelated but didn't know where to stick it, I also ordered a Numbered copy of Suntup's printing of Life of Pi. It is gorgeous. Took almost two years I think to get it. It is a rare non-scifi/fantasy book that I'd actually pay for in this quality.

When this thread gets bumped I just know I'm in for disappointment. Hewas on a fucking tear with the books and then just stopped for that other series. I can always hope he will just bear down and finish it, but that is unlikely.

He had a nasty divorce, attempted suicide (which was the inspiration of Ghost Story), got remarried, and moved across country. That was a few years ago now though. I think it really showed he was still having problems when he decided to split his last book into Battle Grounds and Peace Talks. We should get Twelve Months by fall next year. I think he's been taking lessons from Martin.

I am honestly going to wait until he is done. I thought I learned my lesson after The Wheel of Time; but then I made the same mistake with Game of Thrones. Then I said I was done and started reading these because he was on a tear.....and now he is taking almost half a decade to get books out. So after this series I swore off starting new ones that aren't done.....but just now Dungeon Crawler Carl sucked me in and I am now on the last book of that one before being caught up. It fucking sucks how good these authors are but that they cannot just get the goddamn main story done and fill in the gaps with other standalone novels.

Being a fan of Dresden for a while now I have restarted the series a few times. I love the world building and explanations of how magic functions. However, when reading these books back to back in a short span of time, I feel fatigued when every book takes a side bar to explain this a few times. Now, I understand in the context of these books being released years apart that a refresher is indeed a good thing. I think I would like to see an edition of this series edited with a continual reading session in mind, just a bit of brevity to keep the flow going.

I much prefer when authors put a summary of the previous books as an optional intro rather than explain over again during the book itself what has happened in previous books.
I do enjoy rereads from time to time though, so I will probably reread the series before this next one is released. I somewhat skim on rereads so it goes pretty quick.

I generally retart on book 4. I always felt that's when he really hits his stride with the series.
