The latest installments kinda lost steam, but the IP as a whole started in 2009 and sold more than 50 millions units (7 games, all formats). Considering they cost about 3 bucks to make (music rights notwithstanding), it is a ridiculous cash cow.

Also I am not counting the many spin-offs (there is a kid serie, a Disney serie, several titles focused on a single artist, etc).

So yeah. Huge IP among non gamers and girls.

And everyone can see that without having to stand on stage and make a point of that. They were not pointing out a feature for a game but looking for applause for how progressive they are, except for who they hire that is.

Archeage was kind of like an MMO pirate game...as part of it.

Unfortunately the rest of the game was a clusterfuck due to bad developer decisions. But we had a lot of fun with some of those ship battles early after release (and pre-release).

Pumped for Beyond Good and Evil, South Park, and the new Mario Xcom. Cautiously optimistic for Skull and Bones, Farcry 5, AC (mainly because I skipped several of them), and the South Park card game because I'm a sucker for SP.

Overall decent conference. At least they didn't throw in a bunch of DLC or stuff we know a ton about like Siege or For Honor.

I've never played any Far Cry (except Blood Dragon I guess) and only played AC 4 and Syndicate so I'm pretty not-burned-out and excited to see if these new shiny ones are awesome. Loved what I saw in the FC footage too. Dog stealing peoples guns for me? Co-op people plowing through the town? Works for me!

I don't feel so pumped for Beyond Good and Evil 2 because honestly... It doesn't look like Beyond Good & Evil? It's like the executives told Ancel that the original game wasn't edgy enough, so they needed to add more edge and cursing to make the game. Then the whole spew SJW shit happened. I mean, we'll see how it looks when actual gameplay comes out, but so far I'm kind of bummed and sceptical. Hopefully my worries are put to rest at some point in the future.

Don't care much for Far Cry because honestly, it looks like the same formula again.

Skull & Bones might be pretty cool. Hopefully pirate games become a thing. I've never liked Assassin's Creed so I don't care about that. South Park I definitely want because the last one was fun as hell.

And as for Mario + Rabbids... It looks good. I feel dirty saying it, honestly. Rabbids kind of started out neat in the Wii's early life span, but they kind of ruined them over the years. On the other hand, the game looks beautiful and it looks like a wacky take on XCOM so they kind of have my attention despite the Rabbids.

I'm still blown away ubisoft gets to make a Mario game. I hope this opens floodgates decades in the making.

Mario by himself is a pretty trite IP. Including Mario by itself does not interest me in the game. Mario games are great because they get the attention and care you'd expect from a Nintendo 1st party obsessed with the Mario brand. If they start farming it out the Mario name will lose all meaning.
