Fact is people like destroying the zone for nostalgia. Some people are interested in loots (see: trader bots decked out in ToV, Bow of the Destroyer, Vulak), but it's mostly nostalgia and e-peen fapping.
Given it's a week respawn, and I imagine super easy for any to solo. Why would anyone would expect otherwise with the EQ playerbase love of nostalgia.

Yea, I've put this on the EQ boards and here but one of the best things they could do for this game is instance all older raid content, just like PoT....

There is only ONE negative effect from what I can see, and that is the FEW people who make money off locking it down and selling an amulet of necroshit or whatever can no longer earn 100k a week. It could even be a financial gain for EQ. While I don't have numbers I bet if they announced that they were going this for "gold" accounts or some shit tons of people would pay their one time 15 dollar fee to go back and rape old shit that pissed them off.

I've been over almost every other instancing upside/downside on the EQ forums and it just doesn't hold up. It's old crap, fucking defiant gear is better, illusions can be bought in SC store and the drop rates and spawn times are rare enough where it does not matter anyway. Ohh and like 99% of the loot is no drop. Just instance all raid shit pre-PoP...notice how it's all instanced post-pop and you never hear shit about it? Destroying the game? Preventing fun?

Previously I used to bitch about because it was a cockblocking issue and we all know that's been rehashing 1 million times, at this point I really do think it would equal some actual $$$ for SoE...and it 100% won't lose them any. There is not a single person(who still pays and plays) at this point in EQ's life who is going to quit over this, no matter how many angry caps sentences they type out.

Edit: it's not just ToV either, it's completely stupid mobs that don't drop anything but epic pieces. When I first got back I thought I would finish up a few leftover 1.0's....It was near fucking impossible and I ended up having to pay someone to MQ shit. The only zone I could do on my own was Plane of Sky lol...and while I don't have proof I'm pretty sure that's only because shit DT's all over and no one wants to deal with it.

Yeah, I'd pay a month's sub just to do some old mobs. Thinking about it, I was being a bit naive expecting ToV to be fully popped but at the time I couldn't possibly see why L100's would be farming content 10+ years old.

What's ironic is that there is a L100 version of ToV which is fully instanced.

So is test the way to go if I have no plan to pay for a set of 3 accounts? I want the j5 merc but no way I'm dropping $50 a month to play EQ.

I had forgotten how this game causes time dilation. I had a quick pop in to try out the 85 hero characters and suddenly it's 3 days later? How the hell did that happen?

Theres all sorts of stuff for us to farm! Plane of war has a pretty sweet bottleneck but some cool items along with the world drops. Or if anyone can copy those over for me!! I wish they would just finish this xpac so I would have something to do

Anyone found someone to copy over the CoTF random rares yet? I've had no luck getting them to drop myself and it's starting to drive me nuts (same with the powar randoms)!

sadly, i can't. but,i have enough rare ass shit available for copy that most people would definitely trade, join the channel and when im on we can see what is doable via WTT in general... granted, there are tons of boners there

Them taking the drops out of HAs is stupid. God forbid I can get some pointless marks while I farm some upgrade. Now I have to kill 78k fucked up moba

They could have removed them from a singular HA, which was bugged. Instead, they nuked the problem.

The rare drops should return to HA's, if the dev team can ever fix the drop rate. Why it works for static zones, but can't be fixed for instances, I have no clue.

i've been super into Project1999 again lately (i have a server hopping addiction, sorry guys).... but would totally come back to Test to check out Plane of War

I believe it's 95+ (but I wouldn't try it under 100 and expect to get anywhere). It has a lot of time sinks and faction grinding, the exp is horrible, the mobs hit very hard, and they have a ton of hp. You can't pet tank named and many of the mobs have abilities that negate some defensive skills, your aggro control, and some pulling mechanics. The zone is designed for 2 groups to work together to kill the named, but that isn't always true. Some named you can do with less, if you have the right classes, some named you can't really do at all, even if you have 4 groups, if the classes aren't right.

Short version: Plane of War sucks unless you are maxed out with nothing else to do and don't mind big time sinks.

I haven't seen any items from PoWar yet that jump out to me as amazing must-haves. They are nice, and have nice effects, but hardly worth the effort so far unless you are really into old school PoP zones like this. CoTF is a MUCH easier way to gear up in the group setting.

Plane of War is awesome.

As Talenvor said, it's 95 to enter. But to do anything worthwhile, you'll probably want 100. There are some damn nice zonewide rares, and the nameds drop incremental upgrades. The zone is a long slog for some 1-2% upgrades, but it's totally fun as a PoP throwback.

There are some threads on the official SOE boards which outline the rare drops.

The kind of stuff that was expected due to the hype and difficulty of the zone:
50ac 6hAgi/Dex Shield aug - 10 more AC than any other option from permanent content, much better tanking heroics than Red Dragon Scales which also has 50ac
Circle of Mana IV - everyone not using a Mana Pres Glyph saves 1.5% of base mana cost when casting spells over the best previously available option
Circle of Power IV - 1% more crit for nukes and melee
A 20min recast Swarm Pet - neat
The kind of stuff that was expected to be in CotF T2, very small upgrades:
10dmg 306tap 1h aug (once patched) - 2x 10dmg no proc available since RoF
16dmg 450tap 2h aug (once patched) - 16dmg no proc first appeared in VoA
10% Dodge, at most a 9 point upgrade over a LDoN aug
540dd/105mana Symp proc - both procs separately available in RoF, CotF would logically have 675dd and 128mana Symp procs, combining both instead of upgrading also makes sense
A 2sec Nullify Magic click with a 10sec recast - not nearly as desirable as dispel beneficial but a neat click
600 self heal/105mana Symp proc - both procs separately available in RoF, CotF T1 has 750 self heal
The click line that should most likely just be discontinued or revamped:
Circle of Life IV - 8% of base heal amount (879 on Sterivida Rk.3) is obviously more than 6.5% of base heal amount (714 on same) but continuing to upgrade this at the same rate as Circle of Mana is laughable, the power differences between these two items is staggering 165 more healed vs 17 mana saved might seem similar but that mana savings allows an extra cast for every ~40 while it takes ~200 casts for the extra heal amount to equal an additional heal
