oh maybe the other guy using allure doesn't box lol. hard to keep up. but I do remember healers sucking when I played a solo chanter years ago. and that's why I started boxing.

Yeah, I only equip 1 weapon and also tend to keep a few spare whips on me.
I don't even mind shit healers that much, because I understand healing can be boring as fuck if there's a competent chanter and/or slower in the group. But what grinds my fucking gears are how many goddamn DPSers are just fucking CONSTANTLY afk. Like 4-5+ mobs at a time. It's most prevalent among mages, necros, and rogues and it's the fucking worst. I've started forming my own groups most of the time and if they're afk longer than 10 mins, I just kick em.

that's why I told people before not to play those classes if you want to be lazy. they have a few second window to assist or you instantly know they are afk.
clerics can get away with taking a piss during a pull and you won't notice... until charm breaks lol.
I played a cleric way back in 2001 and was the easiest class in terms of effort vs getting groups. everyone wanted you. they gave you all their group gems. and you had the easiest job lol. the good life.

That was kinda my final point. If you're using a gimpier pet because omg scurred, you're bad. If you're using a gimpier pet because they are so afk they let you die and the mage doesn't malo and the cleric doesn't spot and the tank doesn't taunt? Yeah, fuck them and their shaman pal. Why be sweaty when they're watching porn while you work.

This is the fucking truth. 100% how i decide what charm pet to use. If the Cleric is keeping buffs on me without me having to ask and Sini is being cast right away. Fuck yeah boy give me that max level pet and lets put a Tola robe+2 Steel Hilted Flint Daggers on it.
If when Charm breaks i have to cast mez, then type out "malo please" in group chat only to end up recharming 20 seconds later with Sini still not on the mob. Nah fuck that.

It feels so good when you're in a group with 2 Enchanters and everybody just automatically supports each other. 1 charm breaks, the other enchanter will color stun for the other enchanter, tash and malo pop out of nowhere, somebody might root or snare, and in the blink of an eye, the mob is re charmed and everything is under perfect control.
Then you have the opposite where you are left entirely to your own devices and in fact completely ignored. Charm could be broken with 2 resists and you're under half life and the puller is still grabbing more mobs and is on the way with 5, with no other mezzer.

Yeah, agreed with M Mrniceguy . If the group supports it, I'm down to big dick it and go hard with the haste, pet weapons, all of it. In fact, I love doing that because it speeds up killing so damn much.
But when I'm already carrying the shit out of the group, and you essentially "let me die", why the fuck would I put forth the extra effort to Boltran's? Apparently you all want to "chill", so you can accept the 51 pet or you can fuck off.

I just don't get it. EQ is one of the "slowest" MMOs ever, from a gameplay standpoint. Even when there are 5+ mobs in the group that need to be mezzed, slowed, etc. the game still feels slow as shit compared to a lot of stuff out there. I mean, most players seem competent enough, but ever since the rise in the ability to alt-tab, having 2+ monitors, boxing, etc. it just seems like people are too fucking distracted. I haven't noticed your scenario as much as I've noticed people just constantly "AFK", not paying attention, and generally just fucking off.

I’d bet good money there’s a poop sock buried under all those Hot N Ready boxes.
After playing with multiple boxes at once it’s almost impossible to go back to playing just one character because of what you stated above. Even at its peak, because of its age and water down of difficulty etc., the game is just so slow if you’re only focusing on one character. It also feels like I’m just shorting myself when I could level multiple characters at once versus one a time.
The addition of boxes also adds an element to the game where you can find ways to challenge your box setup by camping difficult group content etc. if you don’t box do yourself a favor and buy a 85 dollar laptop from eBay or get a reliable VPN(assuming Truebox) and join the club.
Problem is people who aren’t even good at one character trying to play multiple especially those with actual vital roles, like a healer. Basically if you see a chanter cleric box unless you know them don’t risk it. That’s where I’ve seen the worst of it. Charm breaks, dude is in a frenzy to recharm and brain melts into a tunnel vision as tank has been sitting at like sub 20% health for what feels like an eternity.

Very few people start small when they step upto boxing. They've seen the big dogs pull of miracles and they want to be that. Straight into enc/clr with no experience even playing those classes solo.
Try wizard/bard. or Mage/druid. Do something easy, but still supportive and likely to get you a group spot to start with folks. Build upto it. Boxing is a whole other level of skillset and it takes practice to build the muscle memory and presence of mind to do it well.

I've always had a hard "NO" when people want to box the cleric AND enchanter in a group. It can be done, but that's like the dumbest shit to have those two characters who are more or less dependent on saving each other played by the same person. I was usually a shaman so I could save them, but if that retard goes afk for the wrong 60 seconds it's a wipe. It can obviously be done, but people who play Clr/Enc are usually the same people who post on the forums "WHAT TWO BOX COMBOS IS BEST? I HAVE TROUBLE GROUPING AND WANT TO MAKE MONEYS!!!!" so I sure as fuck don't trust them.
