Are there any of the anniversary quests that can be done at lower levels? Been dicking around on FV and have a 91 wizard and another person with a 90 ranger/shaman. Was going to look at doing some, but the good ones with actual useful items look like you need to be 100+ from what I’ve seen.

Anyone know what happened to Scarlet Vengeance on The Rathe? They were #1 on the server for a while on the leaderboards, then poofed for the current expansion.

Looks like Phoenix Rises (formerly Clan Ta'Veren, plus some Loyal Rebellion) is #1 again on the server? The Silent Minority hasn't cleared Tier 3 yet which is surprising.

As I understand it, TSM went from being the #3 guild to being #1 and sponged up so much of the server's high-end players that they split into two raid teams. One raid team was much more successful than the other, so they just broke off and created a new guild entirely which was Scarlet Vengeance, which then took over as #1.

So what I'm wondering is, what happened to SV? How'd PR retake the #1 spot after being drubbed by TSM and then SV for years?

(If it isn't apparent, I was in CTV and then PR for a long time, when I quit we'd lost our long-held #1 spot to TSM)

Not only do people still care, but I'd anecdotally say more people care now than 4-6 years ago which is somewhat incredible at this stage of the game.

Part 2 of the Luclin remake. No Ssra temple like most expected. No sign of Mayong either, just something about "guardian spirits" and Underfoot/Darkhollow-type mobs. Maybe this means there'll be a Luclin Pt 3. I'm not sure what to think yet, but I can say this isn't at all what I expected.

I just started playing on live again after Vaniki died. I was definitely not impressed by this expansion reveal.

Vaniki died, huh? That's unfortunate but inevitable. Seemed like we all just started hemorrhaging players out of nowhere.

Much to the surprise of many, the next expansion will not have SSRA temple as one of the zones (spoiler alert). I am curious if anyone knows exactly why...

Ssra Temple not being included is a total bummer for me and a few others. Then there are some who cite lore reasons as an adequate reason for Ssra to not be in there. "Lore reasons" means little to me when the game's devs can easily expand any current lore to accommodate the inclusion of something new. I don't think we're gonna ever get a Shissar-focused expansion so this was probably it, the time to do it.

Edit: Wow, this is getting almost no discussion anywhere, including here. Might be the least-noticed EQ expansion of all time.

It is because modern EQ expansions are as cookie cutter as it gets. They are just new mob models with +harder stats. They don't actually do the work to put new progression, story, or itemization into the game. These expansions might as well be produced by a soul-less AI program now.

Veil of Alararis was probably last time they actually tried. And that was like 11 years ago.

Don't think any of this is new. There hasn't been much EQ expansion talk in many many years

Yeah. Which makes it even funnier that people on that live board thread are going on about the story/lore so much and using it as a defense for this expansion not having Ssra Temple in it, as if this game prioritizes story at any particular point in the modern era.

They use assets from EQ2, so the EQ 1 expansions draw from past eq2 expansions.

If you ever listen to the devs, lore is super important to them, clearly way more than the average player. It's a dumb disconnect given how much time they spend on it.

I just re-upped for 3 months and bought the expansion. I'm rolling a new shadowknight and have a monthish to get them to NoS fighting shape to replace my warrior, a tall order given how little time I have to play. Going with shd, brd, sha, 3x mag.

The lore in EQ is an indecipherable fever dream. I always read the quests and try to piece together the arc and it's mostly just pure nonsense. A lot of work that there isn't a budget for would need to be done to refine it to the point where it's coherent.

Someone could do quite good on Youtube I'd imagine if they took the time to go into each expansion or era of EQ and really dig in on the story and the lore. Or, like Tuco Tuco said, it could just reveal what a undecipherable fever dream it all is.

PVP servers and events sound neat, but there are so many .....lets say emotionally immature... people that are attracted to pvp rulesets that it never works out for long. Aside from killing afk people deep in town, I don't recall what they abused in project M to get it shut down so quick.

I tried a pvp server once in EQ1, buddy of mine and myself each made a mage. Apparently you could just send your pet in, and the guards would not aggro. There was an unwritten rule against this so, and we were petitioned and a GM yelled at us. That same douchebag would purposely attack the pets while we were banking just trying to get us banned. Fun! It's no wonder these servers never last when you need 10x the GM staff for 1/10th the pop.
