Really digging what pope's character is bringing to the show this season. Although he's done the same in the previous seasons the interactions with him and the others is pretty superb.

I think that the Volm machine is a planet buster. One of the basic principles of warfare is to deny your enemy access to resources.

Well every species is unique in their own way. Humans on the species level are very adaptable by virtue of the fact that we are descended from humans that were highly adaptable (because the ones who weren't died out). It has been done to death because it's an intrinsic part of human identity.
But so many scifi/fantasy writers make that intrinsic quality something that is unique to humans. If our adaptability is due to evolution and the stronger needing to survive for the continuation of the species, why wouldn't an alien race have similar qualities?

As for Tom's blindness, the whole show has tried to use the "Revolutionary War" analogy to its premise, so the Volm in Tom's eyes probably equal the French. Granted the French were more interested in putting the hurt on England than actually helping the fledgling USA, but it still worked out for us. I'm guessing the Volm twist will end up being that the humans in power decide that some random dude with no understanding of alien tech (the professor in the basement) is right and it's an evil machine, so they sabotage it/whatever, then the Volm go "wtf...it was a giant shield generator so Ashani can't even enter Earth's atmosphere anymore! That's why it needed so much power! Fuck ya'll, we're outta here!". Then all the humans feel like assholes, except Tom because he's always correct ;P
I think the French analogy is solid, but they've really done surprisingly little with the Volm this season. For the build-up they had from last season's cliffhanger, they've mostly existed in the background. Even Cochise has only been in a handful of scenes (which I'm guessing has to do with cost as they went with CGI aliens rather than humans wearing prosthetics). We only just got a little information on the Volm last week when Cochise discussed his reasoning for fighting (and even that was mostly related to him personally), but the details have been really scant. That, and the aforementioned time jump, make Tom's dedication to them look nothing other than incredibly foolish.

Rather than trying to use the Volm to influence how we feel about them, they seem to be trying to accomplish that through the main characters' opinions on them. As it stands, only the antagonists - Pope, Marina, and Max Headroom - are the ones who don't trust them. Dan is merely on the fence, but is mostly just trusting Tom's judgment. I tend to think your prediction is pretty close to how it'll end up, because I'd be really surprised if Tom turned out to be wrong, as that would mean he single-handedly put humanity in even more danger than they previously were.

Seems to me it is more like well without them we are pretty much done so what the hell and even if they do turn around and screw us after the other guys are gone we are still in the same situation anyways

Personally I'm a bigger fan of the trope that humans are the best in the universe at inventing new and exciting ways of killing a motherfucker. I mean, there are always going to be alien races better at it for whatever reason (more advanced technology, evolved that way (a la Aliens), harsher environment, etc.), but if you give us enough time and resources we'll eventually kill the fuck out of them too. Like Warhammer 40K, basically.

There's a general perception that a species divided amongst themselves due to competition or conflict will have a broader range of skillsets and innovations. If a species becomes united with an established identity then their progression narrows and technological mobility suffers.

If humanity met 10 different species and learned about their cultures then human subcultures reflecting portions of them would emerge. So in terms of a Venn diagram the 10 species would have small circles that are separate from each other or overlapping in some ways, but humans or a non-united species would be a much larger circle encompassing the potential culture and personality types of all of them (and more).

Yep another week of Pope does crazy shit but hey that's just Pope haha. We also had another medical emergency character of the week again. On another note I kept imagining the Benny Hill song as they kept swapping weapons throughout the episode as well.

First, don't you dare talk about my beautiful Lourdis like that!

Second, can we just change Pope's name to Araysar? Because that's exactly what he is, a troll for "freedom." I pray every episode for Pope to finally take a bullet to the brain, so that he's dead beyond any hope of returning.

Third, I'm glad to see the ex-Sanctuary people are still getting some work. First the sniper guy, now farmhouse dad. I even recognized him when he had his ski mask on. Hopefully he sticks around. Maybe Ben will tap that underage daughter's ass too. And maybe Matt (that's the youngest son, right?) will take a bullet to the brain too. Man I hate that kid. It's like they're trying to make him into another Carl (whom I can't stand either) but failing miserably at it.

So...
bad aliens make defense grid. Defense grid emits radiation that will kill organic life on Earth. Good aliens create weapon to destroy defense grid, but could end up not working and accelerate the nuking of Earth?

Also I don't get why old grizzled dude is suddenly acting all weird and shit. You'll either die in 3 months, 1 month, or not at all. Being all shifty and shit isn't going to cause the "bad" aliens from erecting their shield.

Or did I get something wrong?

Also, LOLPOPE and the gunswapping.

Is there a stream or torrent of this mate?

Lulz
it was never shown, but in season 1 Pope had kept her hostage for some time with his "berserkers". this was before he joined up with mason and crew. they rescued the blonde and killed half his men. and since then she acts towards pope like she fucking hates him. and im assuming that she hates pope because he and his crew had a good ole time on her coochiemuffin.

Yeah, I remember it being heavily implied that something along those lines happened too. It's a "family show" more or less though so they never actually spelled it out, but I always assumed she was gang-raped too.

Well she outright stated that Pope "fed" her to the goon squad and he indicated they both did what they needed to survive. Not only
does that imply she got raped, but it also implies Pope had some barely controllable goons, but did what was needed to keep control.
