Maybe I should pull for a Gilga then because I don't have a Zidane. I have basically been ignoring TM's because I don't macro and, even though I play daily, don't spend money on the game, so they're a bit unrealistic any time soon.

Yeah but everyone gets some TM's eventually. For veteran players, we've had I think 130% worth of TM from trust moogles (or 110% if you ignore the two 2nd tier overpriced moogles from events), with another 10% coming from this month's login rewards. We seem to be getting moogles more frequently now too, with on average 40-60% per month (10% arena, 10% logins, 20-40% from events).

So don't count out TM's entirely even if you never grind them. Just make sure to only moogle the really top of the line TM's like dualwield or dualcast.

Well, I couldn't resist and did the 5k lapis summon on the FF13 banner and got a Lightning (and a ton of Fangs), so I'll have her up as my friend unit. Stupid dumb luck, or maybe in a formula to get me to spend money since I never have.

Grats! She's a keeper for sure.

So am I the only one in this thread without a 5 star base? Feels like it.

That was a huge mistake but I'm glad you got lucky with pulling Lightning.

I'm the one who has been analyzing upcoming banners and declaring them crap. My criteria are how good the 6* units on the banner are, and how good the TMs on the other units are as consolation prizes when you fail to draw a 5* base, or as a bonus when you do draw it.

units - FFBraveExvius that shows a full breakdown of JP units, including unreleased units, unreleased 6* awakens, and unreleased enhancements. Enhancements are another level of increased character power and they're a long ways away from global.

【FFBE】キャラ(ユニット)評価一覧【ファイナルファンタジーブレイブエクスヴィアス】 that's a japanese site that ranks all the characters. It's flawed but it's still better than the rankings on the wiki. It's something you have to check on every week because rating shift as characters lose or gain relative power due to enhancements and new hero releases. For example, Exdeath started out in the mid 90s, but has fallen to the low 80s because of stronger units and his lack of enhancements. He just got enhancements this week along with several other units, so he should climb back up at least a few points in the rating. The main flaw is that once a character gets his enhancements, their pre-enhancement rating is gone forever. For example I remember that Firion was low 90s before his enhancements shot him up to 96.

So using the second link to see what TMs the other units on a banner have makes it pretty easy to see how good that banner will be. To recap my earlier post, looking at the TMs and 6* units, the FF Zero and SD 2 banners are total garbage. The Dark Fina banner is complete ass, but Dark Fina is so good that it might be worth pulling for her anyway, particularly if you don't have Exdeath. The Orlandu banner is traaaaaash, but Orlandu is the first god tier unit, so it may be worth pulling for him anyway. The FF2 release cannot be evaluated in advance because it depends on how they split the banner; there are too many units for a single banner. There are good units and TMs, so whichever banner Firion ends up on will undoubtedly be worth pulling on, and maybe the second one as well. The Dragon Quest banners are hard to evaluate but they at least seem decent. The event banner where WoL and Garland get their 6* awakens will be the first really good banner since the BF banner since it has good TMs and Eileen is f god tier, but there is the concern of busting your lapis/ticket load right before the banner that comes just a couple weeks later.

The Tidus banner! Tidus is god tier with an amazing TM, Wilhelm is the first good 6* draw tank (WoL is a weird sort of hybrid between draw and cover, and Cecil is pure cover), Grace is shit tier with a great TM, and Abel is a 3* base whose TM is a dagger that gives dual wield! Yes, the drawback is that the character has to be capable of wielding daggers which does exclude several good 6* units, but there are still plenty of good 6*s who can use them.

So yeah after taking a half-assed stab at Gilgamesh, I'm going full on hoard mode until the Tidus banner, even though it won't be hitting GL until March or so.

If it's any consolation I whaled out a bit chasing Luneth and Elza and failed to get either one. Then got Elza off a welfare pull.

Yeah, my impulse control with this game is pretty low, but I am glad I lucked out. Thanks for all the links, I hadn't seen the JP rankings one before. I didn't realize Firion was going to be so good and his 6* was coming so soon. I have two of his 3*, should I level them both? His TM seems to be crap so fusing them doesn't seem to be worth it.

He's not rated quite so high pre-enhancement, and like Gilgamesh he badly wants dual wield so he can activate two of his weapon passives at once. I'd casually work on one in your spare time, but I wouldn't level both of them until he gets his awakening, then evaluate whether or not you want two. He's still a respectable 6* dps without DW.

I'm strongly considering holding out until the Tidus and Rikku banner. I'm at just over 18 Lapis right now. Instead of grinding gears last week I went back and completed 99% of the story again for the Lapis. I also have 20 tickets saved up. X is my favorite Final Fantasy and I'm one of those weirdos who really likes X-2. Rikku is rated very highly and the chance at Tidus is worth going all in on. Hopefully by then we will have the Gacha changes where a 4 star crystal is always a 4 star base and a Rainbow is always a 5 star. I figure I'll do some light spending (I hope) on banners with good 3 stars since I still could use a Firion and Garland but the bulk of everything is going towards X.

My team is solid but it just seems that having a 5 star base is flipping the game to easy mode. I've made smart choices by only pulling on good banners and not spending much on bad ones. I've only put $20 into the game and intend to keep it that way. That $20 was spent to top off my Lapis to do the 10 + 1 pull which netted me both Refia and Warrior of Light so no buyers remorse there. But I've spent way more than I should have on Final Fantasy: Record Keeper so I know the danger of Gacha games. Money's just a lot tighter right now with the holidays and other things so I really can't afford to spend on Gacha right now and need to be smart with my Lapis and tickets.

If you really think you can wait for at least 6 months that's a very efficient banner to hold out for, on top of presumably coming out after the gacha change. Personally feel like I'm probably gonna go crazy just trying to hold off until the first Tidus banner.

I still need a Chizuru (her TM's last piece of the puzzle I need to assemble a truly whale caliber unit), so if she comes back on a banner, I'll probably use some tickets and at least one 11 pull, but besides that, Warrior of Light is about the only other unit I 'need' in my toolkit, but he's mostly a Cecil sidegrade. Like the rest of you, I'll probably save the bulk of my resources going forward for the X banner. After FF4, FFX is one of my favorite ff games.

I have 90% of moogles saved up, but I'm not sure if I should spend it all to get dualwield this week, or spend some time TM farming, then spread out the moogles to finish genjiglove, excalibur, power of creation, and bracer all at the same time, probably in ~3-4 weeks, depending on events (the others have between 20-60% remaining).

So your choice is 'get genji glove now' or 'get genji glove in a month'?

I was just thinking that even with genji, the only things I have to DW (currently) are enhancer and chirijaeden, but after actually looking at it, that setup is still far superior to anything available on my team right now.

Your Bartz did better than mine. Aside from experimenting with a few things and entrusting Rydia for summon achievements, mine was benched even before he hit 100.

My first was Exdeath during the first couple of days when I finally figured out rerolling and kept going until I got him. My second was Miyuki on the III Banner which sucked because no Luneth. My last was a Chizuru on the BF banner which sucked because no Elza.

Depending on the strength of the unique Christmas units I may pull there. Otherwise I'm going to try and hold out for Tidus. I knew there were two banners with him but I didn't realize the second, with Rikku, was as far away as it is. If the first banner has the Gacha changes I'll go for him there. Gacha change is just before the second Tidus banner, still a long ways off. The first Tidus banner is incredibly strong though.

I'm wondering if the 70k moogle might actually be worth it this time around due to the secondary benefit of megacite and sacred crystals. I'm on the verge of maxing my last two espers and then I'd like to have at least enough to instantly 2* Odin like I did with Carbuncle.

Assuming the dream of 5 Lightnings + Lightning friend, you would get ~200 + 600% (so around 1,400 gears) per clear, which is 50 clears, or 650 energy for the 70k moogle. That's around 32.5% trust (spread among a team) if that energy was spent on TM farming instead. I'm assuming none of us can run a 6x Lightning team, so the ratio is even worse. I don't think the 70k moogle is worth it if you're willing to do earth shrine runs.

Angelwatch I think your best team would be something like 1 or 2 CoD with a 6* Garland, based around darkness attacks. Garland can do his spiral debuff to give -50% darkness resist, then he can awaken darkness and both CoD's could void call and everyone could hit hard (bring a friend Elza with her TM spear for another darkness synergy chainer + super breaking). Of course, you don't have the Garland yet, but I'm thinking he shouldn't be a hard pull during his upgrade event.

I'm probably going to be doing something very similar. Gilgamesh with deathbringer (darkness element weapon), Garland for the dark weakness debuff, and CoD for void call, and an Elza friend for more darkness synergy. Refia healing, but that only leaves 1 slot on the team open, and no offensive breaks, which means it's going to need WoL as the tank to do double duty as tank + atk/mag breaker, which means I need to work hard at pulling one on his banner.

My chasing Gilgamesh left me with 2 Agrias, and like 5 Cecils, so very long term, after Agrias's 6* upgrade (and after I've had months to farm up multiple excaliburs), I can swap to a holy synergy team using 2 Agrias for breaks + holy debuff + good chaining, with Gilgamesh holy chaining with excalibur. Then I could put Cecil back on the team as the main tank, and bring a friend Orlandu to get in on the holy party.
