As bad as Praetorium is after your first time, with role bonus, rested exp and roulette bonus I was actually getting a full level for it between 60 and 70.

Lv50 stuff is also faceroll since like another poster said, you are basically scaled to a top end best in slot raider item level if your gear is ~5 levels higher.

Lol I've heard that Final Fantasy 14 devs are made to play WoW to steal the good stuff and avoid the mistakes.
That can't be true though because somehow FF14 managed to create a TON of escort quests that are somehow 5x more tedious than WoW's escort quests. Lol what fucking MADNESS overcomes MMO devs when they make escort quests? Is it really just a giant lultroll?

Yoshi P does make the devs have exposure to other MMOs. Blizzard presumably does the same. It is smart. Part of FFXIV's 1.0 failure was the fact the devs (who made FFXI) assumed MMOs were the same as they were in 2000/2001 and the design bombed. You keep tabs on what other people are doing and copy what works. That was Blizzard's MO for decades.

Blizzard are probably playing mobile games rather than FF14.

Blizzard are probably playing mobile games rather than FF14.

Activision's reports probably show mobile games have better KPIs. Higher user engagement, higher average spend, etc.

They are the epitome of game design by spreadsheet.

Is there a setting someplace to keep my character from turning to face what I cast on? Keeps fucking me up during these dungeon kamikaze runs when I try and toss regen on people that are behind and it turns me around and I start running the wrong way.

Char config > Target > Automatically face target when using action

The way they allow backwards running instead of backpedaling is also strange, you have to turn on Legacy type camera and for some reason also changes the movement. When you swivel your camera angle around with legacy the direction you're running can also feel off.

Ahh yea, thats a staple change needed to be told to new people to ffxiv. Change that movement and mouse look shit up to what works best for you. The setup you get as default is pretty aids iirc. Nothing like trying to get out of telegraphs and using an ability that doesnt need to face the target turns you right back into the telegraph.

Blizzard presumably does the same.
YoshiP goes to Blizzcon, and many Blizzard developers are fans of FFXIV. They even gave some SE developers a tour of Blizzard.

I got a tip saying I can add Miner abilities to my main class hotbar?
I think this was possible with the cross-class skill system, which was removed from the game. This was a relic from the time where you had to level multiple base classes to unlock jobs. People got mad because some skills were essential, like Taunt for tanks you had to level Gladiator for, even if you wanted to play Warrior. Most newbies didn't realize this.

Yeah I just don't understand how anyone ever, ever makes escort quests. I can't believe they managed to make an even worse escort style quest in ff14 with the /beckon shit.

Loving the game, but my god, fuck escort levequests.

I haven't seen the /beckon shit since early shitty ARR leves. I'm not even sure there was any regular quest with that shit.

Hell, the escort quests nowadays are just "meet this NPC at these 3 different locations pretending you travel with them and kill the shit that pops when you get close".

Derped my way through the first Crystal raid on my samurai. A few people were helpful enough I only died once on the last fight. Good times. Kinda like the samurai. Got the dancer setup last night as well.

i want to say that they stopped escorts maybe mid heavensward? i know in stormblood and shadowbringers some guard will say like "we're on patrol. help me out here dawg" and the quest becomes "walk to point A" and when there or on the way there, monsters spawn, maybe with your boy. then you win and he's like "whew okay lets keep going" and it becomes a sort of a mobile wave fighting thing without protecting a dingdong. so they get the lore of you walking some where new with people in tow, but less aggrivation.

there's unfortunately a lot of old relics in the ARR era that are annoying that the players have forgotten about because they can just run through it like wild baboons now.

yea i found folks on the alliance raids (crystal tower, void arc, Ivalace) to be as helpful as most other aspects of the game. The latest relic weapon (like epic weapon quests each expansion) has you go through and do each alliance raid like freaking 15 times. so people are used to new people getting dumped in their lap constantly. people who are smoldering about incompetence often step up to the plate and take over for you if you're new. I play a tank and i don't play often so some times i get raids i forget how they work. i try, but if i'm fucking it up some one else will just snatch agro and i let them have it heh.

Gathering classes still have Cross-Class actions. They are only for adding the Resource sense abilities too Fisher/Miner/Botanist. It's under Actions & Traits -> Additional

Does nobody else hurriedly read tactics on their phone?

Bunch of people died on my first Ruby Weapon Trial today to quicksand for example.

Most sites are pretty shitty though, I want everything on one screen, the one shot stuff at the top, standard telegraphed in the middle and unavoidable at the bottom.

I'm usually running that stuff before there is guides >.< so never look at them.. *shrug*

I know alot of people use MTQ or MrHappy or the uhh other guy I can't ever remember his name ... has a weird accent though.

As long as it isn't Savage or Extreme content watching a MTQ/Happy vid gives you the gist then after seeing it once or twice a competent gamer can pick it up and do it.

But that relies on people being competent and trying to actually learn.

Did the 2nd crysal zone. Read some wiki while waiting for the queue and half the mechanics were stream rolled over. Died a couple times due to not getting the mechanic until I reread it after the fight. The whole run probably took 15 minutes tops.

Omg. Yeah this has been driving me nuts. Also, why does tab targetting suck sometimes and not swap between targets? I found 2 other hotkeys I could add to target nearest to furthest and vice versa, are those better?

Sneak seems super useful for everyone to have. I often swap to it when questing, just to bypass KOS mobs. Does only miner get it, or do all of them?

All gathering classes get the stealth thing. It levels as you levels, so it only makes you invis to stuff around your level range.
