The reality is they prioritized the narrative for this xpac during the pandemic working situation. As a result, there are a few locations where the "meat on the bone" is thin beyond story points, but they obviously planned out the 5th zone first as that had the most narrative significance.

I don't hate the story reason behind the Final Days, they developed their choice. But I personally would have chosen a different situation / big bad for the cause.

The combat part is the forced dungeons/trials as well as the solo instances. Admitedly due to how much story there is this time, the pacing feels off at various points because you do A LOT of story before you get to the next combat section. The first dungeon especially comes really late but even after that there's still a fair bit of time between. But forcing people to do FATEs or sidequests to get to the next part of the story is some retarded take, that would completely ruin the sense of urgency the story tries to depict. They could have more combat content for sure, but forcing shitty combat content definitely wouldn't help.

Well yeah you wouldn't put more into SOME of the zones, but the point I'm making is that in some parts we cease to play an MMO or even a game at all.

You can have narrative based zones and zone 6 is EXCELLENT as it is, but all of them?

Also note that with more focus on exploring and combat in the zones, or more dungeons, they wouldn't need as much filler dialogue.

It's holding the game back and is why so many refuse to play it.

The other side of this is that they do exactly what I am saying in the best parts of the game, with the right blend of combat and story.

Chris, you're forgetting that the game heavily encourages leveling other jobs. Slowing shit down XP wise would discourage that.

As is, the XP gains were perfectly paced so that by virtually just doing the MSQ alone, you could play a single job and reliably hit the XP milestones needed to proceed in the MSQ. All the side stuff are things you can run on your other jobs so that the XP isnt wasted.

Well it wouldn't because you can only do the MSQ once. Boosting exp from grinding, fates etc would speed up second jobs or at least open up other options than roulette/PotD.

The game has to be a game.

I don't know what you mean, there is about 6.5 lvl of xp from side quests. And one of the best method to level alt jobs currently is to spam Fates (and it gets your Shared FATES level up from each zone on the way).

A level is 50-60 fates?

A good Fate party right now is about a level an hour, on top of unlocking Shared Fates vendors tiers and making a ton of bicolor gemstones which you can use to buy crafting mats that sell well on the MB.

Push on a little more and get to Garlemald, it's great.

As slow as the start is, it's taught you a bunch of concepts you need to understand the crazy stuff later.

The first batch is definitely harsh, I guess cause they wanted to split and not have any personnal instance to prevent Rauhbahn EX but at the same time it's a fair bit longer than the split in ShB which makes it pretty boring. After that though it kinda picks up decently, although there's still some places here and there where it feels slow.

I don't get the disconnect issues that other people seem to have. Have had to wait in some queues, and had issues getting booted when Gilg itself died a couple times, but just in general while in the queues, I'm not disconnecting every couple of minutes the way Sky and a few others seem to be.

The 2002 basically stopped for me after the maintenance a couple days or so ago. Now I can just queue and leave it until it pops.

There's also some crazy new mount that costs in essence like 50k bicolor gems that you turn in for vouchers to purchase the actual mount (since there is a 1k cap on gemstones). These vouchers can actually be sold on the Market Board, too. It will keep Fates relevant for a long time in the expansion, helping later/newer players and alt leveling.

the game is still fucking impossible to play in evenings. And for some reason my queue goes up sometimes. It was 2609 and then after the next tick it was 2712. I don't have time for this bullshit

I’ve been logging in at 9am solely to play later in the day. I’m actually “visiting” a low pop server but I still have a 3-4K queue if I get logged out. It’s fucking nuts

Same. But I pity the "Wanderer" standing around the Aetherite in the cities, because you can't zone while you are queued for world transfer.

That's only gonna work if you're lucky there's an empty server on your DC, and during prime time there just isn't any empty servers overall.
