Would be interesting to see if they go any farther with Unukalhai and Cylva's storyline. I can't imagine how you could possibly restore a shard that was completely overrun by a flood, especially when it seems like being able to use Eden to restore the First was nothing more than a fluke. Maybe the story of a future expansion could be us trying to figure out how to effect a rejoining without causing a corresponding calamity in the Source.

When I completed that quest line, i was really hoping that was where the story went with 7.0, really explore the void.

Just finished T2 and then killed it a few times. I think that's much, much harder to get a non-duty complete PF party through than T1. Took me almost 3-4 hours to get a group of people that wouldn't screw up some sort of water mechanic. People have gone soft, no-one just saying in party chat, move the fuck over, you won't get hit. When I started telling people how to not wipe the party, it disbanded lol!

So here's a question- what (how?) the heck did Midgardsormr remove when he jinxed us way back in ARR then? Just the blessing? The echo?
I think he just locked the blessing. You acquire the various shards one by one during ARR, it's visible when you get one, and they aren't there in the soulspace until you get them. After he locks you, they're still there, but greyed out/depleted, until you force them open again.

He locks the blessing of light, but we're still immune to tempering during that whole bit

Btw, new treasure map is neat. It's basically Loporites make Las Vegas as the treasure dungeon lol

During 1 run, we got the gamble chest. The map owner went all the way and 6 Cloth of Happiness was the reward (makes the new Hobbit outfit glamour). I won the roll and got all 6, but I gave half to the map owner since their gambling got me that much lol

Fuck P2S is so stupidly easy just need to find a party that doesn't suck at doing dmg. Was in one that was doing mechanics properly but low DPS so couldn't get the kill in time. The others are like "enrage xp" then wipe to limit cut so it's interesting. Have been doing most runs on my shitty geared SMN though so maybe I should invest in it(well it's 580 but only have VIII materias in there cause I was lazy and didn't want to buy more X materias until they drop back down in price a bit). Was pretty surprised it took basically 20mins to get all the mechanics though, I'd say it's even easier than P1S.

I find PF parties that use some sort of discord also are quite helpful. We need to get a FOH run in at some point.

How difficult are those Pandaemonium fights compared to the Extreme Trials? Wondering if it's worth giving it a go.

I've finished farming the 1st trial and I'm working on the 2nd one (I've seen the last phase but haven't practiced Chakrams enough).

That 1st trial is probably the most mechanically complex fight I've done in an MMO, the 2nd one seems easier to me but people seem to think it's harder?

I actually think the regular 1st trial is on par with regular P3 and P4.

The first 4 raid bosses of an xpac have looser dps checks than the later 8, but mechanics-wise Savage is designed for 1 + 2 to be PFable while 3 ramps up to become the gatekeeper.

Can definitely PF, but harder than EX, especially the current EX which are pretty braindead. Granted the first 2 floors are also pretty easy as usual. 3rd floor usually is rough until ppl get more geared and 4th tends to be quite hard to PF unless you get in early and are good or people vastly "outgear" it(late in the patch when ppl are in full tome gear and shit). Part of the difficulty is it's long(it's usualy 2 fights in a row with a checkpoint), so progging stuff with randoms can be a pain when you can't even get to the part you're trying to learn. But everything can be done with randoms, just can take some luck and a lot of wiping to get there even if you know the mechanics perfectly. Advantage of PF however is you can basically keep going if you have time, unlike statics where ppl have jobs/school/life so they usually only raid like 3times a week for a few hours and stuff.

My plan is to maybe hop in a static for P4S so I can get the clear then just farm it later for the mount, we'll see though.

P3s is turning out to be one of the funnest savage fights. I doubt I will clear it this week but actually enjoy going in there and wiping, lol it’s super fast paced and you really need to have it pre scripted in your head from practice, it is very fast paced and your reaction windows are tiny. Nice refresher compared to p1 or p2. Not sure if I’m going to bother with p4 this tier, it just looks punishing and not that fun to me from what I’ve seen, which sucks cuz the music is great.

if anyone is on the excal Data center (think that’s crystal?) I ‘d be happy to go in as a shield healer for these fights if help is needed. Also if anyone’s on the foh discord that’s playin this, the comms helps a lot for progging, even for p1 , though not needed

To pyros’s point, if you’re a pf lifer like me (my schedule is way too inconsistent to be in a static, and hour long prime time queues don’t help) , it’s absolutely critical you get the first two savage fights done in the first week, and the first one done in the first couple days. Those are my most stressful raid tier moments. Lol once you clear 2nd savage first week it’s like a weight lifted off your shoulders, as u can enjoy progging 3 with capable players first week. Second week you’ll want to focus again to get 3 down. After that you should be set for atleast a week or two, where you will be able to prog the final fight with capable players often. Once the retards start to trickle in, there’s usually enough gear compensation from tomestones that you can still get by and get some progging done. It’s the same cycle every tier

Got in a good party and killed it, had the stereotypical loud mouth "wow I can't even, someone doesn't know numbers" idiot after we got a single wipe on numbers, then he turned out he wiped us twice with his fucking knockback debuff, including once on the very first one when fucking nothing else is going on. Seems a bunch of the guys were premade cause they exited, then everyone was out they just kicked him out then we got a DNC and cleared 2pulls after. There were a few strong DPS and the DNC was buffing the 8k RPR. I died on one of the TB though(undermitigated cause I wasn't sure the other tank had HG and moved in late) so my parse is basically ass but eh cleared both in 2 days, so I'd say that's nice. Impressively, the other tank got the 0% parse lol.

Last tier I started like a month late or whatever, so while a lot of ppl were complete retards, a bunch of people also had higher ilvl than "needed" so some of the stuff could be brute forced.

I tend to kinda lose interest before the end though, I was up to Lions on E12S and kinda just dropped it cause it was getting annoying and didn't bother doing it before EW as a result. Will maybe clear it once we outgear it a lot and can skip stuff.

I /could/ try for savage, but TBH, I'm having too much fun making 5-10 million gil per day while levelling every class up and doing hunt trains.

Maybe if I fell into a nice static I'd take it more seriously but I'm having a lot of fun right now without the stress of high level raiding.

Gonna pick this back up and thinking of trying my ps5 controller instead of keyboard/mouse. I’ve never played any mmo with a controller, so does anyone have any advice? Is it any good?

It works fine with a controller. Takes awhile to get used to targetting quickly and you'll want a kb for chatting anyway. There's some decent youtube vids with suggestions on how to map/config things.

I'm clearing Extreme Trials as Main Tank with no issues with movement or access to abilities, for me it's better than Mouse and Keyboard. I also healed a bunch of Shadowbringers raids.

You have to very carefully set up your keybinds and there'll be annoying things until you get it right.

A few tips:

Turn on legacy movement
Turn on the option to have different action bars when weapon is sheathed/unsheathed
Bind unsheath weapon to L3 (otherwise you'll get stuck in the wrong mode in combat if it's not super easy access)
Bind sprint to R3 (I think you bind a macro to do this)
Have mount/teleport/class change etc on your sheathed setup, you can have multiple bars you cycle through for everything you need out of combat, have the hotbars for this be shared between classes.
You should link 4 hotbars to cross hotbar setup unshared, and 4 to sheathed setup not shared.

Targeting enemy is when I press X, can't remember if I set anything special up for that. Target ally is pressing up and down when you are a healer, you can also press x to lock target so you always default to that party member (eg the tank).

If you move with left stick, it makes it more difficult to use the buttons on the left side while moving, so anything you want to use while moving needs to be on the right side.

L2, R2, L2+R2 and R2+L2 open up 8 action buttons which is 32 total and just enough for most classes. Theres lots of options on how you activate different action buttons including things like L2+L2 and R2+R2 for 16 more.

Try to use the same setups for each class to help with muscle memory. Like I have Taunt on L2+left on every tank, my single target rotation is always on R2+down/left/up, my distance closer is always R2+up etc etc

Put important cooldowns on R2 and L2 hotbars where they are easier to see, combo abilities can be on R2+L2 or L2+R2. Like for Paladin I have Requiscast on R2, but the abilties it then combos into are on R2+L2, so I know to hold L2 after Requiscast to do that combo. For Gunbreaker the 30s cooldown damage buff is on R2 then the other damage cooldowns are on R2+L2, so I know to press L2 to check my 30s and 60s cooldowns after doing the damage up ability. For tanks my 30s cooldown defence ability is on L2 so I can see it and cast it often, but the longer cooldown ones are on L2+R2 which I usually only go to for tank busters or if shit goes wrong.

If a cooldown can't go on L2 or R2, you can have it on both controller cross hotbars and a dummy regular hotbar that's always visible. For example while Sprint is on R3 for me, I have a hotbar with sprint on it visible so I can see when the cooldown is ready. My spint game is insane actually, it's so fast to activate it.

Prices for crafted stuff kinda crashed pretty fast and might crash further but mats are high yeah. Looks like too many crafters similar to late ShB, not too surprising I guess.

New gear is reskin of a pvp set which is nice since a lot of ppl didn't get that set anyway, looks alright. I'll craft my set later though, melds look really cheap for min melds(can use VIII materias and reach craft/control reqs, just need some overmeld for CP cap).

Watching savage, 1st looks pretty simple, 2nd a bit harder but I think once a "strat" comes out to standardize stuff it won't be that bad either, seems you can also cheese one of the harder mechanic with tank LB. DPS reqs look REALLY low, like 4deaths and several dmg down on P2S and still didn't see the enrage for ex.

Catching up, but yeah too many crafters and just such a low barrier to entry, way too easy to get/make anything with the low melds required.

Got 2nd Trial down 10 times for the PAL weapon, really fun stuff just like the 1st Trial but I definitely find it easier.

Maybe because it's a variety of moving in/out, kiting adds, line of sighting explosions and dodging aoe. The 1st trial is all dodging aoe and it gets a bit monotomous once you start farming it.

Will have full 580 gear on raid reset day, it's been a super fun gearing up experience. I guess I'm gearing up WHM next.
