Still looking for a beta account. I'm willing to pay around $150 (negotiable) and send first as long as you're a credible poster here.
I'd like to start playing by tomorrow so send me a pm.
I'm really digging the beta... but it's not really worth $150 just for an account.

If your account isn't worth $150 then why don't you take advantage of someone overvaluing it and get rid of it for more than it's worth?

You've made more than enough posts about this already, if anyone out there will be interested then they'll PM you. At this point you're just being fucking annoying.

Besides that, the accounts get locked to a IP address from the looks of it. So you'll have to find an account that hasnt been used really at all. Just tried a friend of mines account and can not download the client after installing the first 100mb client and got a message "Based opon recent suspicious activity, we have identified that your account may potentially be at risk. For your protection, we have temporarily suspended login access to this account. Check your email address, blah blah".

Not going to push my luck and get his account flagged anymore, but I'm betting you'll have a hard time with any account thats been used.

Well that sounds just like the normal anti hacking systems all games have nowadays. You enter the code to whitelist the new IP then you're good to go. In some cases you have to enter the code everytime you log in from a new IP but if your friend isn't playing anymore, then it'll do it just the one time.

I find it promising that a lot of people are very excited about FF XIV: ARR.

Can someone summarize what kind of changes made into ARR that made you get hyped up? (also, when is the estimated release time? 2nd Quarter?)

If it wasnt under strick NDA, I'd most likely bother my buddy to do that. But Im not going to get his account in trouble. The fact they have it setup in beta means they might actually check IP logs. I might just be paranoid though!

I am curious about the changes too.

FF14 was an abortion. 3 zones, maybe 20 diff looking mobs total, only quests being run to a crystal and run to the opposite side of a huge zone that has been copy / pasted over 50x to kill 3 rabbits and run back etc.

They would have had to completely change FF14 from the ground up, there was nothing good at all about it. And if it has been changed from the ground up, why not rename it something else? With so many fans that hated 14, just how many would return? I cant name an MMO yet that had a diasterous start and regained momentum and turned out to be a decent MMO to get lost in.

Who would buy FF15 knowing how bad FF14 bombed? There's know way they could get back into the MMO market with such a black mark on their record. Re-releasing was the only course IMO. The fact that it will be relaunching on PS3 might give this game a second chance. If marketed right, a console release will open the game up to a much wider audience. Doesn't hurt that the Final Fantasy IP is traditionally associated with consoles as it is, not to mention filling an MMO niche that is currently lacking in the console market.

That's a ton of paranoia. The only case where you would have people go to the extent of checking IP logs would be an extremely small scale alpha - usually employee only alphas at that. There's no chance that they'd waste manpower checking IP logs for a large closed beta.

I've shared my beta account with a friend and haven't had any issues. Did it during alpha too.

I can not comprehend how asian developers are able to produce MMOs that are so visually stunning, and out of all of those this one takes the cake. This game may have shortcomings, but the visuals are not one of them. How do we (westerners) continually put out shit like Warhammer Online, a game with a hundred milliion dollar budget, with completely lacking animations, art, textures, and models... yet asians are able to craft something that makes shit like WHO look like duckhunt.

I love the old school feel for casters. Spells have cast-times, can be interrupted, and mana is slow to regenerate. Mages aren't ranged rogues with "energy" bars.

SE is thinking out of the box on this one. I can safely say this is the first MMO where you start inside a prison. It may seem like a starting city, but oh no, it's definitely more akin to Levinworth than Edoras. By level 4, you'll feel like Sean Connery trying to break out of the Rock because leaving the city is no easy feat. All the gates are closed, the ferryman doesn't want to bring you anywhere, and you'll be washing laundry, and doing menial delivery chores for the other citize...inmates for the first couple of hours in the game.

Tons of gates, guarded by guards who think you're Jeffrey Dahmer serving consecutive life sentences and simply will not let you leave. You'll feel like Andy Dufrene crawling down the shit pipe when you do actually find the lower level exit as it's a barely labeled path nestled off in the corner.

So whats the process, owner checks mail and clears it and its gtg until owner tries?
I was able to buy an account, login from a different country, change password, change e-mail, and change the secret question without a single hickup. Don't know what you did to get flagged...

Very jealous of your entrant into the beta...well that, and the ability to drop 150 bucks on a beta account. Wife and kid (aka diapers) take all my money.

I actually got my account for a lot less than $150.
[3/10/2013 2:35:04 PM]ME: as far as price, what were you thinking?

[3/10/2013 2:39:43 PM]HIM: what would a fair price seem to you Im not going to be like oh give me $50 for a beta account because thats just ridiculous
They were selling like hotcakes for $60-$80 on the MMO auction sites. Tons of [WTB] threads and all of the [WTS] threads sold within hours; basically attacked by dozens of posters scrambling to try and buy up the accounts. I got lucky and caught this guy right as he put it up.

Guy said he'd be completely happy with $20 for his account but I felt bad considering I know it's worth more than that so I gave him his $20 and another $60.

In return, he was more than accommodating. I'm not very far yet but I am definitely liking what I've seen so far.
