sometimes the targetting is a little weird but ff14 was defintely designed with console in mind. shit isnt as awkward as i thought it would be. so nice to grind on the big screen while chilling on my couch (without a hot ass laptop making my balls sweat.) so glad i opted for the ps3 version over the pc.

That is a pretty forgiving way to look at how SE has failed at this launch. =)
Also just a quick fyi. If you have an ounce of min/maxer in your body pick a job other than monk to shoot for. This wall of fucking text is our bread and butter fucking combo. Our 3 part combo skills are 1a: Crits if behind target(after first rotation) 2a: Does bonus damage in flanking, provides %dmg buff 2b: Does bonus damage behind target 3a: Does bonus damage if flanking.
Monk class adds 3b: AoE weaker than 3. 2c: Low damage, removes one buff from target 1b: Higher damage than 1a if flanking, Debuffs targets blunt resist and INT by 10%.
So our max level ideal single target otation is 1b from flank, 2a from flank, 3a from flank, 1a from behind, 2b from flank, 3a from flank. Any deviation results in buffs/debuffs falling. Effects last jsut long enough that they fade as/a second before you reapply. That's max level though, prior to monk skills my rotation is 1a from any side, 2a from flank, 3a from flank, 1a from behind, 2b from behind, 3a from flank, 1a from behind. If the mob is buffed you should replace 2b with 2c in your second pass but never in the first because you lose 10% dmg for 6 seconds. If there are multiple mobs 3a should be replaced by 3b.
THERE ARE NOT WORDS TO EXPRESS HOW IRRITATING TRYING TO MAXIMIZE YOUR DAMAGE IS. It is a huge damage loss if you fuck up your rotation. To the tune of 30+%. It's fucking stupid. As an extra bonus since all your shit is relative to which way a mob is facing you hit like a bitch while soloing.

honestly, no troll, i dont see how you can consider early access launch. u can comment on a botched launch after the 27th.

Yea, monk was what I had been working towards, but now....I'm going for Dragoon.

Actually I think its just the very high pop servers which got fucked. I played the entire weekend besides the scheduled downtimes, which I do admit were shitty but I cant really complain too much. I logged on today at 3ish and logged off at 12 AM with one boot in between that I logged in right away.

b) i agree on fates. they hit the sweet spot of encouraging grouping but not forcing you to sit LFG for a group all day. as mentioned, they arent new. but they took what existed and made it better. they did a blizzard on that

I managed to get just shy of 40 before the servers were brought down for maintenance. I've been immensely frustrated with the server stability, missing about 4-5 hours of game time each day stuck on the many errors. Fate's have definitely been the most efficient way for me to level but they're extremely boring at this point. The thing that's kept me going was doing the level 35 instance,"The Sunken Temple of Qarn" and seeing the fast potential for difficult content. I hadn't enjoyed a single instance up until that point (it was all incredibly dull) but do yourself a favor and check that instance out if you get a chance.
Good call although I hear the dragoon priority chain is pretty complicated. On the upside you don't have to dance around like a fucking moron hoping THE GOD DAMN TANK STAYS IN ONE GOD DAMN PLACE. I mean shit is easy enough that it doesn't matter at all what you do as long as its something but it's a nightmare to try to play a pug/mnk correctly in a group.
