The raid mobs are there mainly for people to farm myth tomes quickly for their atma books and books/seals for sand of time. Soldiery tomes can be capped pretty easily doing raids/dungeons but farming 1500k myths tomes every day or two would have been a pain doing it via the df.

The worst thing I found about FFXIV was gearing up being essentially joining zergs to kill overworld boring as shit mobs instead of doing dungeons to do raids. Garbage.
Oh yeah I'm sure those 3 hours of doing garbage content to be entirely geared and ready to raid is so terrible and it's not like you can buy the gear with tomes that drop in dungeons. Cmon, in what game do you get to raid without doing like stupid daillies for reputation for some shit enchant or whatever that makes your stats very slightly better. In FFXIV the reps are pretty much completely worthless other than cosmetics and in the case of the last one added, it's good for crafting/making money. You have to do like 15hunts, which take between 2 and 3 hours depending on when you start and shit, to get your entire i90 set. If you want to do dungeon to get it, you can do that too, you get like 100myth per run though and you need like 3000myths or some shit to buy the set, so that's a lot of dungeons. It was an option they added to make it faster and easier to catch up.

I do agree dungeons drops have completely fallen out of the race and are pretty much entirely for glamour now and that sucks. But complaining that they added very easy and very short content to catch up with gear for raids is fucking retarded, especially with the small amount of other shit you need to raid. Don't need to level a craft for perks, don't need the level reputation for perks, don't need to farm daillies for money to buy consumables or shit, there's food and you definitely want that, but that's pretty much it, potions are super optional and the food is cheap if you buy the lower lvl ones/can be mass produced pretty easily using retainer ventures to gather the shit while you don't play.

24 hour maintenance for 2.4, starting Monday bright and early (midnight) and ending Tuesday. Guess I'm going to bed at 3pm. :p

I'm surprised they haven't put up preliminary patch notes yet, though. Weren't 2.2 and 2.3 up roughly a week prior? I can't recall.

I don't think they post patch notes before the downtime, to avoid economy changes in response to stuff in them. I guess a rough preview could be made but they already made several previews(rogue class, shiva, new coil, hildebrand etc) so I think that's all. Patch notes will probably go up during the 1day maintenance.

Time looks pretty meh, guess I'll just say fuck it and play a couple of hours before going to bed.

They usually do post preview patch notes around this time, which don't include the economy altering things you mention.

Granted I live in the midwest, but are you sure it's not your internet connection? I have never had any problems with netcode or latency other than the first week after launch when servers were a mess. Unless you are talking about the telegraphs in which case that is more due to poorly synced timing between animation vs when the telegraph disappears. Biggest thing I've learned is don't trust the telegraph's timing. When the casting bar finishes (not the animation) if you are still in the telegraph or the spot where the telegraph was, you will get hit. It's always when the casting bar ends that counts.
Unfortunately, if you are on a high ping, the telegraph not only disappears late, it also shows up late, which makes it a real pain in the ass for me to do things like Titan.

The only way I'd play this again would be if I transferred to a Japanese server and played there instead. Which may not be a bad idea.

How easy is Titan HM now? One of the main reasons I stopped playing was I couldn't find people to beat it and PUGs were not good enough and I didn't want to pay a group of people to run me through.

50% echo after repeated wipes fixes a lot of things, if not bads. That said, people can generally clear it without Echo in the times I've gotten it on Trial roulette (which was an entire week, at one point).

Whelp, back in the game. Currently on Excalibur under the name "Grumble Cake", mostly just running around leveling my guy. Only thing I have up are summoner, scholar and fishing, so I've got a lot of work to do. I'm up for moving to another server if there's a group of folks anywhere.

Nowadays people kinda sleep through it, you can survive most of the shit even if you don't dodge it due to ilvl increase and echo(when you wipe you get more stats). I did the relic quest on every class since I came back and also farmed titan like 30times to get a weapon for my retainer(which never dropped, but I did get like 10 random other weapons from greed rolls...) and I think I only had a really terrible group once.

Titan EX though, that's another story. Even with full echo and i110 gear, some people still can't fucking get the fight done. Garuda EX and Ifrit EX are easy enough but Titan is a killer. Mog EX is boring as shit but fairly easy, Leviathan EX is pretty easy even though a bad group won't kill him due to "out of the fight" mechanics similar to titan(basically you fall off the boat, so you can't be rezed) and Ramuh EX is a really weird fight in the sense that the mechanics are super simple but most of the fight is on taking personnal decisions based on the situation rather than following a script, which makes it hard or easy depending on people in your group.

Guys I played this In Beta and as with most folks that experience lead me to not buy this game.

I am considering picking this up on PS4.

Is anyone able to give me an update on game play WRT to PS4 vs PC.

I love playing on the sofa infront of my big screen, but really am nervous about a mmo on a counsel.

Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Any info about FOTM and/or broken jobs would be an asset.

I have no complaints about the game's performance on the PS4. After playing it on the PS3 and experiencing really awful issues with invisible boss mobs, lag, etc. the PS4 was a huge improvement. Just get yourself a wireless keyboard and you'll be good to go.

Class/job wise I'd probably recommend a tank or healer if you're about to start as everyone and their dog will be levelling ninja (DD job) come 28th so there'll be a massive shortage of anything but DD. If you want quick parties and optimal levelling speed to 50 for your first job I'd stay away from a DD archetype.

As far as specifics go, I'd probably advocate Paladin (Gladiator initial class) over Warrior for a first round tank job till you become familiar with the game mechanics and Scholar (Arcanist initial class) for healer as you'll also receive a free max level DD job in the form of Summoner when you level it.

It's a decent game and I'll probably watch videos of the story, but as soon as they started the treadmill they lost me like all games that do it.
