I'm in the same boat as hodj, supports just mean more stats for fighting. I've read some of the fan translation dialogue and was equally unimpressed. Keep in mind a lot of these outrage videos pick a couple out of many and let's not pretend Awakening was great for the story and support conversations.

Awakening had some really good plot points, like the matricide issue if you made certain decisions.

I need some sort of story to give a gameplay purpose. Even if it never rises above the level "generic anime". I also prefer mostly literal translations; no name changes, no puns or other silliness injected into source material that was serious, absolutely no goddamn memes, and fuck translators who think they are writers.

Yeah, Fates is far from being the only game Memehouse has taken a shit on. I don't know all the details because I didn't want to read spoilers, but I know for sure that Henry in particular was butchered in the localization of Awakening. Different personality entirely, vastly different dialogue that is sometimes the exact opposite of what he said in Japanese, etc. I don't have a WiiU but I know there's a lot of people who aren't happy with the XCX localization for the same reasons. Also, Nintendo of Europe apparently has at leastsomestandards:

I could see that being an honest mistake. Translation/localization is typically done in massive spreadsheets, and it's possible someone was working on that support, edited in the "..." and then forgot to come back and actually write the English dialogue. Not that they deserve a pass on it, it's obviously something that needs to be patched ASAP. I'd say it's the least of their crimes against humanity though.

Yeah I skip like...so much dialogue in video games.

I've come to view it all as tripe for so long now that its just not even a concern for me at all.

I get the major plot points and understand the story and whats going on, but I skip so much of the side quest dialogues and stuff in games.

There's nothing that bothers me more in a game than sitting there wondering when the designers are going to give me control over my game and let me play it.

If it were any other two characters, I might buy that, but those two are edgy/assassin/ninja characters. The translators probably though along the lines of, "Edgy ninjas don't say anything, take out their dialogue and make them bond by being silent!"

Yeah I can see that.

For me, I'm more interested in the gameplay than the stories any more.

Occassionally one will catch me and I'll really get into it, but I really agree with Carmack's assessment that story in video games is like story in porn: Its expected to be there, but its not that important.

Game is so much fun currently. Haven't done any of the online features yet with the whole castle stuff but still having a blast. This battle I'm on is really pissing me off though because...

Chapter 9:
It's where you fight that dark mage guy, I can't recall his name atm, but he has like a 25% crit chance. Nothing like clearing the whole map, only to have him do his counter attack, proc a crit, and one shot anyone. I play where when you die you stay dead just because then I feel like my choices when doing battle actually matters, I want to keep everybody alive so I just restart if someone dies usually. But man, taking 30 minutes to clear the map and have that mage random crit 1-shot anybody on my team is just....fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

That chapter is piss easy compared to the next one.

I play the same way, on classic and if any character dies I immediately restart the whole mission.

You get a shit load more legs out of the game. I've been stuck on Chapter 10 for days.

Btw, the Boo Camp DLC is out for xp grinding. It's only 2.49 and it really helps when you get stuck and need a little more juice. It isn't as OP as the Awakening xp map and the mobs will attack you (the green ones).

My special edition finally showed up, game is really solid mechanic wise but had to turn the sound off during any dialog. The random two to three sentences they speak out loud before the start of a conversation are jarringly out of place.

You can turn off the voice acting in the options.

Chapter 10 dear god. Its like an hour+ long. Took me 3 tries to get it down on Insane. Assume you are referring to the Nohrian

Tactical RPGs are about all I am good at anymore...

Haha, no I'm talking Birthright.

I could beat it easily if I didn't care about losing a character, but I haven't found a good way to accomplish it without losing someone somewhere along the line.

I suck.

10 took a while, I wound up saying fuck it when I lost Hinata on literally the last npc on the map, RIP. It doesn't really get any easier. I am on 18 now. 17 wasn't bad and you can cheese the Opera mission easily (13 I think?). 16 sucks a fat one though, same thing with carefully clearing a map, only to get to the boss who has crazy one shot magic potential. I wound up putting up a bulwark of Kaden/Felicia who are both practically immune to magic. Worked like a charm.

Just finished Nohr path last night on Insane.
Time for EZ MODE Insane path of Hoshido

I just said fuck-it in the final mission. sooo many deaths.

Had way too much time on my hand the last two weekends due to business travel alone.

How'd you like Conquest? I just started my Conquest and Revelations saves, but I still have a few chapters left in Birthright before I switch completely.
