My dad would sell cracked directtv cards back i the late 90s early 00s for $300-400 a pop. Kinda wonder how I didnt turn out like a piece of shit like him involved in all sorts of shady scams and grey market stuff. The dude also recorded tons of porn and would sell vhs tapes of it.When I went over to my big brothers 1st place - he had like a half dozen of these things hooked up. Thats not exactly what they looked like, but was pretty similar. Could watch any channel I wanted to at his place. Next thing I know, he has Primestar and he's bought a little machine that could program the card that you put into the receiver. He'd give us a new card every now and then because they'd nuke the old one , and we'd just watch all kinds of PPV. Think we had DirecTV next, or something like that and he did it again there. Wasnt until the 2000's that I remember everyone looked to me to pirate movies and shit for them.
Directtv eventually got smart and bricked most of them;
