I felt something similar when I was staying in Dallas and a friend asked if we might meet for dinner since he was going to have a work trip to TX in a few days. "Sure, where are you staying?" "El Paso"... I was like brother, you're closer than that now.

edit: lol just took a quick look at the map, and there are like 17 states closer to Dallas than El Paso...
