looking back on this and also remembering a few lan parties i'm surprised nothing got tripped
while at home, i put all my appliances in separate areas (w/ different circuits)
like my electrical kettle, is at a different location (circuit) from my electric tea kettle
yes, i'm asian so i have a separate kettle just for tea and another for boiling water purposes (ramen, etc)
yea it's one of those silly kettles that lowers the brew basket and raises it back up after brew time.
i also have my coffee maker on a different circuit too. i mean don't get me wrong i can make coffee and brew tea at the same time on 1 circuit, but if my coffee grinder was on the same circuit? blown.

Some of the best times of my life and it's a shame that kids don't get to experience this anymore, especially the fucking Vista networking errors where one PC simply would not connect to the LAN for inexplicable reasons that lasted for fucking HOURS.

After a few runs, we would just start the LANs by reinstalling a fresh Windows 95 on every computer, it was faster that way.

That's probably smart. We would email out a list of games we expected to play a few days before, and there were always a few folks who had to "acquire" them. We helped where we could but given the era, we had a few LANs that were just about cleaning virii off everyone's machines. I was doing Desktop/Server support in this era, so I had the tools on hand. Then we started requiring a security scan/sweep/clean bill of health before people could join the network, which made it easier to avoid a full day of virus remediation.
