It "looks" like its back in the rear covering the fridge. But in actuality, its perfectly placed over the cooking square (w/e type that is) just right behind the finger food in the closest island portion of the cabinets.
As far as that range hood install - I bought this place last month that had its oven range venting into the cabinet. The same fucking thing. But covered up by a little steel mesh like hairnet. Doesnt look like it did much of anything but get some water damage. I guess from sucking up steam? tf if I know. I figured it would have done the opposite. But Im positive that it did fuck all for the smell.

Doh! I didn't notice the little flat top stove. It looked like the hood was just cockeyed hovering over the fridge. My current house is the same - the exhaust is capped off. It goes through some half assed carbon filter that does nothing. It's been on my list of things to do since we moved in.
