Note: I don't have children, who knows maybe all that hormone and family bonding blahblahfuckingblah shit will make me change my tune if it ever comes to it. But...

Under a certain age, the kids don't care. Over a different age, they've already seen it any time they want (what with cell phones and Internet and, oh, hell, Sears catalogs :p).

And going to a parade is a tad different than bringing your child into FantasyVideo or some dive peep'n'creep.
