Black people can say American Inventor all they want even on TV today. Like it or not a lot of the south still talks like that, and they don't give a shit whether uppity blacks don't like it. They'll tune in. Someone watches Tyler Perry shows after all. He doesn't use American Inventor, but he does virtually everything but, and it bothers people that he's "reinforcing" trash, but that's just how a lot of people are, and they don't appreciate being considered trash for how they were brought up. Sanford and Son isn't that old.
But you're probably right that American Inventor isn't going to be used in a black comedy again unless it's some late night comedy central/adult swim showing. The suits are skurred, and most of them ain't black, which opens them up to white guilt protesters.
