I had a home recorder and several different generations of MD walkmen. I was all in for a long time. Fucking loved them for years and years. The latest revisions of the software for dragging and dropping songs were huge advances in ease of use, but no match for what was to come.

When I was in Japan it was heaven, as you could buy new releases on MD from music stores!

They got lucky the porn consortium chose Bluray over HDdvd

and if they weren't such greedy fuckups, they coulda won the memorystick wars if they made the memory stick work with ps1 (and then ps2/ps3) instead of this piece of garbage

do you know how dumb sony was with electronics? i remember selling the sony mavica

it used floppies for storage, and yes it was a big ugly square, basically building a camera out of the storage medium size.

they already invented the memory stick, but thought this was a great way forward instead.
