In the novel, one of the central struggles was the ministry of truth putting out information everyone knew was false, but they were TOLD to believe. The protagonists job in the novel was literally to alter newspapers and media to adhere to the 'narrative'. If this little quote is accurate then it means anyone who resists the propaganda of the ministry of truth, would also be Orwellian? Yeah...Orwell takes a little bit more than a superficial allusion to a single fucking line. Because the whole theme of the book was LITERALLY about the difficulty of being able to express disbelief in what was being shown on TV and in media.
A cookie for who comes closer to the Ministry of Truth, the president with almost no propaganda infastructure who is actively fighting with his own intelligence services, or the five multinational mega corporations which control most of what people see all day, with one of the most advanced informational distribution infrastructures in history (Oh, and they are hiring up former propaganda experts and spies from the CIA like there is no tomorrow...)
The reality is the media has us much closer to Fahrenheit 451 than Orwell anyway.
