Taken out of context since I can't be bothered to read the transcript, he has a couple of perfectly valid points.
1) We aren't going to care about mother earth if we are all gone. Better a world with a few open pit mines where we are alive rather than a pristine world where we aren't.
2) Climate change, that is, natural climate change, happens, and we adapt. As far as wildfires, the only reason they are unprecedented is that we suppress the small ones rather than do what Native Americans did: let the small ones burn so fuel doesn't grow over the years to make an unprecedented one.
