For the record: comparing oil painting with woodblock printing is pretty dumb. On top of that, three things: 1) the japanese technique of polychromatic woodblock printing was unparalleled. 2) The particular example is a caricature of a famous actor meant for mass consumption, so that's pop culture in the XVIIIth century. 3) The discovery of these prints by european artists (often used to wrap ceramics imported from Japan - as we would do with newspaper today) revolutionized european painting.

This is the massive fossil found in Alberta, friend of mine was on the crew that found it. They quit working and helped unearth it. Some folks on facebook were saying he should take a piece and keep it for art in his house before they reported it. He didn't as far as I know.
