I think it's funny how the science-fan community always attributes DARPA funded robots made by private contractors to being made by DARPA. The boston dynamics wildcat is really cool though.

For the record: comparing oil painting with woodblock printing is pretty dumb. On top of that, three things: 1) the japanese technique of polychromatic woodblock printing was unparalleled. 2) The particular example is a caricature of a famous actor meant for mass consumption, so that's pop culture in the XVIIIth century. 3) The discovery of these prints by european artists (often used to wrap ceramics imported from Japan - as we would do with newspaper today) revolutionized european painting.
