Yea it’s weird. There are sections where you can buy pretty much every vegetable prepared, sliced, prepped, for almost twice the money…

It is even stranger for me . . . . shops in my area have maybe one aisle for snack foods, two if you include crackers and biscuits (Cookies)
And at least 4 times the area for fresh fruit and vegetables.
And good, fresh fruit is so damned expensive here compared to at home . . .
I'm starting to get why you have a higher prevalence of obesity here . . . junk food is a LOT cheaper than fresh / healthy options.

If you want an impressive grocery store, go to Central Market. They have some of the best produce in town (outside of a fresh farmers market) for about the same price as everywhere else. The rest of the store can get silly expensive (high end grocery).
For normal stores, here is the list from best to worst:
HEB (I drive 10 extra minutes, each way, just to shop at one)

Albertsons = Kroger (toss up of which is better, depends on location)

Wal-Mart (there are a few fancy Wal-Marts in rich areas of town that are nice and where you wont get shot in the parking lot)
