I had a similar story a few years ago in my old MK6 2010 GTI. The guys at Best Buy told me I would lose warranty if I opened the box for transportation.(They wanted me to pay for delivery.)I managed to fit a 1.9m tall cupboard into my Golf GTI 2-Door, with the boot (Trunk?) closed and drive it over 2 hours home.

Yeah, that's 100% bullshit on the warranty thing. I was a sales manager for Best Buy for a number of years once upon a time before starting my own business. Mine is an '08 Mk5, last of the Mk5s
apart from some minor mods (About 300hp - intake, exhaust, injectors, boost, tune) it's as it left the factory - never even changed the wheels.
