Which is pretty funny considering the mallard drake is know as the rape artist of the waterfowl world by biologist because it will interbreed with anything and everything and has nearly outscrewed the black duck into disappearing. For nearly every species of duck in it's range there is a bunch of mallard hybrids with it.and gum doesn't cock birds overhttp://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/gumbirds.asp
Regarding the pic, outside my apartment some female mallard duck was hit in the middle of a busy street. Completely flattened. Her 'husband' was in the middle of the street squawking at cars and sitting by his mate. It broke my heart.
