I always just figured that maybe where this Noah fellow lived there was an earth quake and tsunami from it maybe. Oh and that Noah also maybe had a brain tumor like that john Travolta in the movie where he predicted an earth quake.

I'd guess there have been dozens of megafloods in the last 300 million or so. The only ones we know about are recent. Younger dryas impact, northeastern US flood from a huge glacial lake draining, and there are a few more I can't remember.
Lots of things can cause them, and over long periods of time shit happens. We are a wobbling marble circling the drain to hell. It is a miracle anything is left.
