I've always wondered... why does Clooney have to die in this scene in Gravity? The ISS isn't visibly spinning, so centripetal force isn't in play. They are both at rest relative to the ISS. When Bullock lets go of Clooney's tether, he should stay put, no? And there's no reason she couldn't have pulled him toward her, either.. she would need only give the tether a tiny tug, then wait for momentum and time to close the gap. Right?
