Late 80's (1988 IIRC) - Calling one of the local Fido BBSs in DFW that is of course what I did on Friday nights in Dallas in the late 80's. Semi freaked out when a voice answers instead of a modem :
"Hey! It's Linda! Me and Jim are doing stuff on the computer so the board's down right now. But a lot of us are over here drinking if you wanna come over!"
This directly led to my social interaction foundations for most of the 80's and 90's being all the people I met and partied with off local DFW bulletin boards, and then transitioning to geocentric channels on #effnet (#dallas, etc...)
This was my social gateway drug...
