I disagree, did not feel any particular lack of battles in the Books, off my head I can remember many, as opposed to the show where their absence is glaring for such a well founded and popular series portraying a war.It is obvious you haven't read the books because they are about character development, political intrigue, and the numerous goings on that determine the fate of two different continents just to name a few. What it isn't, though, is heavy on action. For all the talk of action in the books, very little of it is actually spelled out for the reader. It is one of the best parts about it. You get about one major battle and one major ambush scene in each book and that is about it. Additionally, most of it is small scale compared to the battles that are referenced but never described blow by blow.
You don't need to have read the books (which I haven't)
So I assume you're going to stop nostrdouching in the other thread, right? Now that you've given up the ghost completely here.I disagree, did not feel any particular lack of battles in the Books
I want to infract him, but my brain refuses to let me believe that really happened. Maybe he typo'd that and meant to write (which I have). So I assume you're going to stop nostrdouching in the other thread, right? Now that you've given up the ghost completely here.
To many haters in this thread. So I assume you're going to stop nostrdouching in the other thread, right? Now that you've given up the ghost completely here.
So have you, or have you not read the books? To many haters in this thread.
I have read the first bookSo have you, or have you not read the books?
I do have to agree with this. They could have easily done a fast motion, blurry snow fight. Lots of sound but not much shown. Lots of swords clanging. Screams. Blood splattering on the ice etc with a few close ups of piggie hiding. Major characters in battle etc. It did feel anticlimactic after showing the whitewalker army and then everyone just going home. It didn't have to be super high budget.Blaming the budget is a kop out. Good direction can can make even a small skirmish look epic. What annoys me most is the flow of the story being disrupted, Mormont rides out with 300 men at the end of season 2, the next time we see him he has a handful of men and they're heading back to the wall. You don't need to have read the books (which I haven't) to know something major has happened and they've skipped it..
The BWB doesn't even appear until book 3.I have read the first book

In the movie Plague Dogs there is a scene where one of the dogs says, "Damn this place, damn the white coats, damn them all!" Sounds a lot like when the Hound says, "Fuck the Kingsguard, fuck the city, fuck the king!" The dog in the movie is also running from fire. Coincidence?
