Yup, this show has killed Mad Men for me. It's just a moody, droning pile of shit next to the awesomeness of GoT and their proximity make it impossible not to compare the two.

Fuck is it going to suck if the show can't keep the momentum when they get to the parts where Martin loses his fastball. This isn't the best show I've ever watched but it may be the most enjoyable.

Itlan is being dumb in the non spoiler thread. I'm not going to report it though.
Edited it out. I am assuming Beric and The Hound did NOT have their fight this episode? Because that was what his spoiler was and the av club article mentions that coming for next week.

Yeah, it was all the setup, he now has to face trial by combat but it didn't actually happen yet. Arya being badass led to it of course.

Also, I look forward to Godric posting that even though he hasn't read the books, he thought the sacking of Astapor wasn't as good as it was in the books.

Great episode. Jaime/Brienne arc is just shaping up fantastically. Theon saying he chose wrong was nice. Really setting him and Jaime up for their "redemption" for lack of a better word. Of course Dany stole the episode. Perfectly portrayed that scene.

My only complaint would be Beric. Not at all how I pictured him. I Always pictured him as emaciated and sickly looking. Makes sense that they wanted to down play his appearance and make his resurection more shocking to viewers and all, but Beric was one of my fav secondary characters so it's worth mentioning.

Edit: also glad to be seeing more Varys!

I post in here cause I really enjoy what people who haven't read the book think of the show btw, and in case anyone has any ?s.
i'm about to start book 3, so i guess i'm a half-reader/half-non. i'm stuck in the tedious appendix of book 2. don't have a question right now, but i can say this season is ruining the shit out of book 3. unfortunately, the book thread is way off limits. based on the title of that thread, i haven't checked it at all. so there's a weird thing where show watchers got this thread, book readers got their thread(s), but there ain't much here for in-betweeners.

about the show, some stuff is overly metaphorical and way too compressed. i'd prefer each season be as long as it need be instead of conforming to a 10 episode format. but it's a great ride nonetheless. daenerys kicked some serious butt today. good pay-off for the final scene in season one.

Daenerys stuff was a bit predictable to me, but overall a great episode. I really am enjoying The Lord of light storyline and I'm intrigued on where it will go. I'm starting to get a sense that it goes a lot deeper than we think.

The varys part was so out of left field but so awesome.

Dragons fucked shit up.

The expression on Tyrion's face when he saw what was in the crate was great. It was a sort of "holy fuck, I need to remember to never fuck with Varys" type of look ;P

No mention of the Hound ? Couldnt ask for better casting and his rant with Beric was fantastic

Yeah, the whole episode was great and the final scene was definitely the best of the season so far. Too bad that's the last cool thing she does for a while (unless they change it up from the books).

It may have been predictable, but it was fucking badass regardless. I was pretty shocked to see that stuff go down at Crastor's also.

Wow. That was an amazing episode from start to finish.

Yeah, I don't think they were counting on the Dany part being a huge reveal. It was the kind of suspense that is not "if" but "when" and "how". I thought the opening shot of the episode was perfect.
